Modding Regimental names

Post by WilliePete »

forgive me if this is in the wrong section, but I'm not quite sure the best place to post this. Is it at all possible to mod(or patch) in the names of each regiment? For the most part in game, each divison is made up of three infantry or panzer regiments and one arty. It could go under the Unit Base Info tab under the Divison name/number and next to the Corps number. Not really a big deal, but it could add just a little more historical flavor and make it a tad bit easier to distinguish one remiment from another when clicking through the units in a hex. No game mechanics need to be changed, its just adding a few characters for the regiment number. I'd even do the research if it would help!

For example:

2nd Motorized Division
HQ: XIX Corps: 5th Motorized Infantry

by the way, the 25th and 92nd are the other two regiments in the 2nd MotDiv...

Thanks!

for those interested, I found a very well researched website dedicated to the German armed forces 1918-1945. www.feldgrau.com is filled with lots of interesting facts, unit history, as well as unit OOBs (Order of Battle).

yea not having the regiment names is something I would like to see in a mod or patch..since i have some favorites I like to push around on the map..like the 35.Panzer Regiment/4.Panzer Division.

but really it doesn't bugger the game, it's still fun, even in solo(learning what can and can't be done) playing at the moment.

Ditto.

I too like to follow specific regiments. I like to find the units Panzer Aces belonged to and follow their actions. Guys like Kurt Knispel, Dr. Bakke, Bolter, Bix, etc etc and of course Wittmann / Wohl.

For me it makes the game even more interesting.

And on that note.

Wouldn't it be cool if the emblem of the units were displayed aswell....you could keep that on a divisional level, the regimental emblems would probably be too hard to find.

Love the game btw.
