"ancient ships"

how can we disable these packs of ancient ships? In my opinion it's fine to place some rare ancient ships in some sectors - but this situation - when they are dozens of such ships in one place (places of old battles) destroys the game. if we find such sector - we can just take these ships and destory all other races - this is no way to stop player who get such extraordinary fleet

Well, you can choose to not take the ships (can an AI empire then acquire them?). Or if you do take them, you can retire them right away. Plus depending on your economy, the maintenance cost hit could drain your funds which would be especially bad if your game-ending attack failed for some reason.

it doesnt work in this way - ai could then take them i suppose. what is more - i like this ships, i only want to reduce their numbers. it will be strange to take one ship and not take another. is there any way to reduce numer of these ships?

i think that if we take 3-4 ships from one such field - we can defend this field without problems and take all. such armada of ships is unstoppable. i dont think that any AI will have a chance to stop them. I already destroeyd 1 entire race using only 3 of such ships (capital ships), armada will destroy all lifeforms in galaxy

My favorite option is to retire them at the closest spaceport. You can reap therewise some research boni.

Same here. I'd sooner scrap/retire them to get the research boost.

Plus, as Lihnit23 pointed out, they can be awfully expensive to support & maintain, depending on your empire's economic situation.

You can't stop the game generating them when you create a galaxy. If you really want to get rid of them you can use the game editor. If you wait until you find a field and then use the game editor to remove it (without zooming out and getting a free look at the territory of the AI players) it can't really be considered cheating.

Interesting way to make the game harder. Probably better to let the AI players take them and give them the advantage.

Alternatively just blockade the field, don't take any yourself but prevent any AI players taking them. That way you don't have to use the game editor. You can also attack abandoned ships, so blow them up if you want to.

Most of my Empires are too big

Finally!!

I wrote about this some time ago, but nobody cared to much.

The "retire them for tech bonus" solution it's not for me I dont want that incredible boosts to the technology.

You could destroy these ships, even the ones the other empires are repairing without any impact on relationships, but that only works for the fields you have discovered of course.

I like unbalance in single player games.The A.I tries to get them too.

Th AI player will use them. Also, the tech boost has been reduced in 1.06 patch, so it isnt overwhelming, but still worth the effort to repair and then retire the ships. If you think they are too overpowered still, just let the AI take them, or move in some warships and shoot them up.

I found such a cache of ships after getting an operation maps from AI that was in the process of reviving these ships. I took more than half of them, the AI didn't seem to use them though. I retired half of my part of the treasure and used the other other half to subjugate the universe.
