AI experience

The team behind the award-winning game Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive early days of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris is the first in an innovative series of operational World War II wargames that also include a strategic element. The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris simulates Germany’s military successes in Poland and France in 1939 and 1940 (including also a hypothetical “Sea Lion” invasion of Great Britain).

AI experience

Post by Keunert »

i m in the last third of the france invasion and played the polish invasion once. i have to say the experience with the ai is quite different. case white was a very close run and felt quite right. but in france the ai let itself get encircled again and again. in a few turns the first panzer units will arrive at the chanel coast. but until then the british will be dead and the french too.

this might work within the scenario, this will slow me down quite a bit. but it just doesn't feel right. the ai would do a lot better if it allowed retreat more often. plus it doesn't feel very historical when the brit let themself get trapped on belgian ground en masse.

what's your experience with the ai so far?

Plus you can always try a different AI, so far I've played with normal and slow and the difference is noticeable.

I agree. I've played the poland and french campain on normal AI setting. In the poland campain, yes very challenging, I actually had to replayed it twice. But in France, as soon as I broke thru in the Ardenne forrest the AI seems unable to handle the fast moving panzers. The AI actually puts HQ's in the way of the panzers??. Before 1st June I destroyed french army group A HQ and the british BEF HQ, which didn't even move as I approched Dieppe. In the ardenne forrest I put 5 infantry divisions along the river, the AI seems to insist to have 20-30 units placed along that line, even when I was 2-3 moves away from paris, the AI continued to mass divisions along that line. And yes the I also incircled the british forces and destoyed almost all of them.

Sounds a bit like the historical French response in some sectors.

So besides being harder, what are the differances in the AI's? Does it play better? Or just change the combat results?
What do you mean we're out of amunition???

the slow and very slow AI take more time to ponder their moves.

if you want the AI to have move and combat bonusses you have to set them seperately. (+25% is advised for experienced player)
