Is there a change? (in AE version)

Post by yangym »

I bought witp (not ae) several years before and got bored.
Because there is cheat level tactics, (for example hiding all CV and deploy all dive bomber and fighters in land base)
The enemy automatically run into my land base and their battleships and carriers are all annihilated.
Stupid AI!!!
When I found this, I lost my interest in witp.

Now I bought AE version newly and applied v1.01.06g Official Update.

Is that tactics still works?

Others will reply...

In AE ,its a brave new world and I doubt that even worked in WITP.

I would say there is no point in playing the AI , you need a human opponent.

Your tatctic will still work against AI but not as effective with all the airfield restrictions.
But I cannot image how can you not use CV's in an offensive campaign?
Deffensive, I can understand. Late in the war, that's the tactic the Japanese must use when their carriers don't stand a chance against the might of the USN.

Without being cheeky it could be said playing the AI is a bit of a cheat in itself

Did not mean any offense by that...:)

Think of a good PBEM opponenbt as an super AI that takes a long time to do a turn -

Careful. You might hurt it's feelings.

The AI in the AE is much improved over the Witp version. It's now more of a sparring partner than just a punching bag.

But it'll never be Rocky Balboa or Apollo Creed. [;)]

I am not sure, I know he lost to Mr. T once and Apollo Creed.

I like to think of Japan as Rocky. Forget about winning or losing. You just wanna go the distance against the guy in the Uncle Sam shorts. [:D]

Rocky III featured an exhibition fight early in the movie between Hulk Hogan (as a wrestler named "Thunderlips") and Rocky. It ended in a draw.

The AI doesn't cheat. It just able to read the the dice rolls and plan accordingly.
Take my word for it. You never want to be involved in an “International Incident”.

Hmmh, sounds logic at first, but then would you also pour salt on a bad cake -- 'cause it tastes bad anyway?

Somehow I do not think that Japan can turn it all around in -45 by simply shouting "Adriaaan" [:D]

The AI does not cheat, unless you play on higher difficulty levels. Lets not spread any other rumours.

No, it just uses different rules. [8|]

But if you go into the battle knowing what the rules are ahead of time.... is that really cheating?

Yep, it just does exactly what it is told to do. But at higher levels it doesn't have to follow the same set of rules as the player.

Never met an AI that didn't operate by its own rules though...only way to make an AI competative.
