Modding the Map

Post by WilliePete »

I find the heavy woods map hexes contrasts nicely with the map, but unfortunately you will most likely never get to appreciate it since they are found at the extreme north of the map. I would like to darken the light woods hexes in various places throughout the map for no other reason other than I find it pleasing to the eye. Is it possible to make cosmetic changes to the map?

I woulnd't know where to start. Could you give me a few pointers on how to get this project started? If/when I am able to use greener trees on the map I will be more than happy to share my work with all.

Hi!
You can either, with ex. Photoshop edit wanted tga-files one by one or
better put them together to one big tga.file and then edit.
The last way gets an overview that is perhaps necessary in order to reach an
overall result. After you have the result you want, you then split the map back to
12 resp. 63 tga files. Zoom 4 resp. zoom 2.
A good and easy "put together" or "split" program is Irfan View.
The simpliest way is of course to manipulate the art directly in the art files.
My suggestion is mainly if you want to change a lot of things in the map
