Change Initial Race Designs

Post by Tacit_Exit »

Anyway to do this?

I know I can save a set and load it at the start of a game, but if possible I'd like to be able to have the starting ships/mines/etc. be my designs.

Edit: Ignore me I thought you were talking about images, but you meant component designs yes?

Yeah, kinda said I know thats possible in my post, but cheers.

@Wood, I meant designs as in component groups.

Would be nice if we could just change the default starting shipset for a Race when played, rather than going through the rigmorale of loading a set everytime you roll a new start. If you like to reroll starts a bit like me to get something interesting it can get tedious.

There's no way to automate it that I know of. Wish I could read. Just have to create one set of your own default ships and load it at the beginning of each game. At least with RotS the tech tree is the same every time, not like in vanilla where you had to worry about getting different tech every time.

damn, i need to check my eyes...again :)
it would be good to have this, maybe you should post it on the wishlist....with the support we've got here you / we may get a nice surprise with the next update ;)
more so since it is very useful and I don't think it implies a lot of coding

I'd like this too.

i agree with this suggestion too - there should be an option at startup where you can design and/or nominate your base ship designs prior to the game starting. what would be even nicer is, from that point, if the AI will automatically improve around those base designs until such time as a radical change is needed

I'd like to be able to design several sets of designs for each AI race to choose from randomly to start the game with. I'd also like to be able to dictate to the AI how to design new designs (IE put 4 guns on an escort, 9 engines on a frigate, etc).
