Interdiction attacks on entrained units

Post by Dietrich1941 »

Does the AI ever attack entrained units? Seems that would be a high priority target.

Yes it's possible for Interdiction attacks on en-trained units. Results are generally higher casualties as well.

OK, thanks. Still waiting to see my first one. So far, if I can get on a rail hex and rail out of trouble I've been home free. Maybe they should be higher priority targets...

I think they don't happen as often because the detection level of these units is low (or zero in cases of coming from the rear).
All understanding comes after the fact.

Yes, this is a problem with the engine. In an IGO-UGO system, it really makes no sense to not have hex-based detection levels from recon. If over the course of a week-long turn, I run a few hundred recon missions, over a broad, and deep area, any enemy units moving through that well-scouted area on the following player turn should be subject to being detected. Having them be immune to being spotted, because they began their turn unspotted is a bit silly, IMO.

They are not immune and can be spotted during enemy logistic phase.

Pavel, is this the "Ground Reconnaissance segment (13.1)" or is it something else?

Yes, Mark.

As in my answer on dev forum:

When you hit the 'end turn' and enemy logistic phase starts, there is special routines runs first which sets detection levels for the units, including those of your enemy. New DL depends on the current DL, location of the unit, type (AF are harder to hide). So if you made many recon flights and DL of units was high enough, there is a probability that this unit won't start hidden and can get targeted by the interdiction.

When you receive the turn it was passed through the double logistic phases. So if you don't see enemy units outside the front line, it doesn't mean they were not visible during enemy movement.
