WIP: Production Changes to Lost Victories

Post by RedLancer »

I have mentioned in a couple of posts that if/when the structure of generic files has been changed I intend to release a version of my Lost Victories Scenario that includes changes to german production, squad compositions and TOEs. As a taster and to provoke some debate here is a spreadsheet showing how I am tweaking AFV production without destroying balance to the production system.

Approach I have mapped the production of the major vehicle types I intend to change by month. The maximum production cost has then been totalled for each month by adding the totals of the build limit x build cost for each vehicle type. On the NEW worksheet these are the Original values in the light blue boxes at the bottom. The values for each month are found by multiplying by 4 as the game looks at production windows by month but calculates production by week. As I have made changes I have tried to minimise the impact both by week/month and for the whole period (the value in the far right hand box) so I don't upset the overall balance of the production system: I've actually saved 537 production points in the period Jul 43 - Sep 45 which is about the cost of one Panther A.

AFV Production Changes Within the balance limits described I have made the following changes:
- I have stopped Pz II, III and VI chassis production altogether: the scenario assumption is that the decisions were made in Mar / Apr 43 and are now occurring in Jul 43. Legacy vehicles such as the Tiger / Marder II etc will exist in the starting OOBs reflecting previous production.
- Production has switched to PzIV, PzV and Pz38(t) chassis and variants.
- Where I can the number of concurrent variants have been reduced. e.g. the sIG 33 Grille is replaced by the sIG 33 Hetzer not produced concurrently. Nashorn and Brummbar production is stopped earlier.
- Similarly some variants arrive earlier - e.g. Sturmpanther & Coelian.
- I have allowed a 5% production cost efficiency saving for each vehicle both to reflect the streamlining of production into less variants and the availability of designers not producing vehicles that do the same task.
- I have upped vehicle production to account for the efficiencies - if you look at the Blue Box on the CHASSIS NEW worksheet you will see that 4368 more vehicles are produced than the comparable group of vehicles in the stock files.
- I have allowed for one flight of fancy: the Fangschreke (Praying Mantis) is a Wespe on a Pz38t chassis - a design that never existed.

Please feel free to comment: as it says in the title this is a WIP and has a little way to go before release.
