[REQ] Notes on map

Distant Worlds is a vast, pausable real-time, 4X space strategy game which models a "living galaxy" with incredible options for replayability and customizability. Experience the full depth and detail of large turn-based strategy games, but with the simplicity and ease of real-time, and on the scale of a massively-multiplayer online game. Now greatly enhanced with the new Universe release, which includes all four previous releases as well as the new Universe expansion!

[REQ] Notes on map

Post by Yskonyn »

A super handy feature I came across in another game called Sword of the Stars would have tremendous value in DW as well.

A Notes feature, where you can pin a note on planets and locations on the map. You can scribble notes to help you remember stuff and on the overview map (perhaps at a certain zoom level) a special icon would be visible over the location to indicate you have written a note about it.

Just an idea. ;)

Excellent notion![8D]

I agree it would certainly make less paperwork while I am playing. Notes should be attached to Systems, Ships, Fleets just like SoTS I. Its been on the master list wish list thread for awhile (page 34), but worth mentioning again because it would make "playing" the game more efficient.
For those interested, forum thread link to post with a master list of all my DW mods: Link

I've used note flags in Civ games as well. They would be even more useful here to help keep track of who is planned to do what.

'Here Be Giant Kaltors...'

Good idea.
While the battles the British fight may differ in the widest possible ways, they invariably have two common characteristics – they are always fought uphill and always at the junction of two or more map sheets.

add to this the ability to designate these areas as "off limits" or "restricted" so automated ships would recognize this would be AWEEEESOME![;)]
