Errr... do you happen to have a map showing the Suomussalmi village and some surroundings so that I could "loan" it? :D

Hey Kez, just in case you don't know yet I borrowed two books about the Winter war today from the local library. Now all we need is some hard work.. ;)

Point taken. I also have couple books with very accurate information about the battle of Suomussalmi and Raatteentie... maybe I should buy "couple" bags of coffee for coming weeks. :)

Actually there was a sale of coffee last weekend - I bought nine 500g packets for 1,50 euros each. That should be more than enough. :D :D

Edit: And it was good coffee ;)

Anyway, OKW.. Sorry this has got off-topic, I promise to look at your map tomorrow and actually post something about it here. :)

I already looked at it and also played a 2000 points battle on it. I liked the map. Keep up the good work. :D

OKW, nice work especially if that's your first map. Provides a nice place for both fighting in the woods and in urban terrain. Looking forward to some more.

About the Suomussalmi map, I'm planning of making some scenarios with Kez about the Suomussalmi battle of the Winter war, or maybe even a campaign if everything goes well. We've been searching our books but haven't found a map of the Suomussalmi town center. One that would show all the houses etc. However, Kez has some excellent maps of the Juntusranta area, or so I've heard. :)

2nd map available for downloading!

*Rock Passage*
A line of hills break map half from north to south, who ever gets their units in hills first will probably have upper position to defend and attack, so you must be fast and mobile, but watch out for breakdowns cause this isnt a vechile friendly terrain. ;)

I hope you find what you need for Suomussalmi village and other Finnish maps.

That would be great and I am *very* interested in seeing them.

I have searched and searched for as much as I can find about these actions - even tried a couple of scenarios on them. So it would be great to see what someone else comes up with and how they look and play.

I have a 1/2 finished map...

of the Kelja area on the Suvanto River...where the Russian 4th Division ( I believe) tried crossing the frozen river for three days in late December.

If you are interested I could try finishing it off for posting on your site by the weekend.

Kelja Village - I have tried this twice across the frozen river.

Neither was quite satisfactory. I'd like to try again with your map.

So yes, I am very interested. Perhaps we could have a "Frozen Suvanto" battle and your map for posting next time at the Dirty Dozen. That would be great.

Winter War Battle of Kelja...

Sounds good to me. I'll dig it out of my "limbo" folder and finish it up.
