V Large. There is basicly one open channel of ground running E/W thru the center of the map. There is a ridge line thru the middle with one river running E/W a little South of the middle hill. Some very long bridges run the length of the middle section of this river. The north and south are wooded areas but with open patches here and there. A small village lies on the East side of the middle ridges in the middle. There are 4 main roads , 2 running N/S one on each side, and 2 running E/W intersecting the other two in the North and Middle.
The north and middle VH's are located on hills. The south VH's are located on the N side of the river nuzzled between it and the middle ridge in some woods. The germans rear VH's are located in a field surrounded by woods. The Soviets are located in the middle of a large open area near the intersectin of the N/S and middle E/W roads.

The german army has been deployed. Recon elemints have been dispatched to scout enemy positions. The only contact wa MC squads intercepting and wounding a SO Calvery squad in the south.
German MC's take the north VH's and snag a couple South VH's meeting no resistance as of yet.
As of yet the Soviets seems to be holding back.

A pair of Soviet P-39 Aircobras made a recon raid behind the Southern hill discovering a command Opel which they attempted to take out but failed resulting in light casualties to the nearby German squads. Soviet recon units are watching the German advance.

In the north foward recon reported the position of a flame tank and called for support. An AC was dispatched whom flanked the tank and destroyed it.

Ouch, losing that flamethrower hurt. Live and learn. It's recon time, as the German MCs get more and more drawn in, Soviets are just observing them, waiting for something more substantial than a bunch of suicidal bikers with guns fresh out of the bar.

German plans are moving along, we are in no hurry 
MC squads continue to prowl the countryside a couple getting ambushed by cosaks here and there.
In my rear a SO spec ops squad materializes in a building with one of my MC's in it. They didn't apreciate SO in their bar, lots of noise was herd and in the end the SO squad never made it outside again.
1 German strike element does a flyby of the rear SO lines and spots a large mass of tanks far to the rear. Unfortunetly out of morter range by a far margin

Soviet Air Force makes a daring raid through heavy AA fire onto the central hill resulting in destroyed ammo carrier, suppressed AA battery and undetermined infantry casualties. Light recon skirmishes continue along the front line and in the German rear.

Neg inf hits in SO air raid. However you really scared the hell out of an AC
Thus far the Soviets refuse to engage. We have started to get a good feel for where they are, plans are being drawn up for phase two, as german artillery is brought into range of the foward front.
A soviet spec ops in the rear was dispatched. In the north a MC squad encounters one of those mobile AT platforms. They engaged it and failed to destroy it.
Beyond that just some very minor fire fights along the fron as MC squads bump into things.
So far Soviet art has hit in areas where there was little to no troops.

Minor recon firefights, a couple of MCs squads will not come back from the woods, some Cavalry lost. There was German paradrop into an open field, lets see what happens to them. Things are gearing up, air force and spec ops reported multiple AFV positions so I'm moving my forces. Let's rumble.

Paratroopers land in the middle of an enemy assembly area out in the open. After taking a moments breath they charge into action. 2 of those AA trucks die, 2 tanks are egaged but fail to be damged. One of the squads kill a morter. It is not likly any of them will survive the next turn
In the south german screening forces engage 2 mobile AT vehicals destroying one. In the north some calvery is killed however an AC is left stranded by german calvery whom retreat behind it. GHC expects that car to be the first veh casualty on the german side.
In the middle all is fairly silent, neither force wanting to brave the open ground knowing that AT/AA coverage in that area from both sides is bound to be deadly.

Things are starting to heat up. German screening forces are starting to be engaged. Soviets showing their hardest push in the south for now. Multiple tanks , mobile AT and some inf.
So far germans have been able to push wherever they encounter SO foward units. Many SO calvery died this turn. Also a couple of those mobile AT's where destroyed. As usual some of my AC's are now in jepordy.
Another SO special ops was found and eliminated at the cost of an MC squads whom tried to zoon right thru them.

the attack
Soviet forces are pushing on multiple directions. A few AFVs, AC detsroyed on both sides this time. Germans put 88mm AA guns on the northern and southern hills which were designated for rapid response by Soviet artillery. 
The nothern hill position got it and the southern has it coming.
Soviet Air Force makes another successfull raid damaging a tank, and command car. Good thing those planes are equipped with AT guns.
German Air Force sends a lonely Me 110 that destroys AA truck and drops some bombs that I think killed 1-2 ppl from nearby infantry unit. The rest of German Air Force is keeping quite until the right time.

While german forces would have prefered the soviets wait one more turn to finialy come out of hiding. Forces have been mobalized to deal with the incoming soviet pushes.
Unfortunetly due to the 1 turn early advance many german light units are now put in harms way. Soviets seem to be making their largest play for the north.
The south is fairly quiet and the middle is see'ing some movement but all the action is for the most part confined to the northern half of the map.
German movers scramble to move heavy guns foward and it is aparent now there was a flaw in only bringing 4 of them (stupid oversight on my part) :rollseyes:

Germans are throwing their front line at the Soviet forces which are pushing ahead but making little progress. But this won't last for long. The recon reports German AFVs closing in.

On the southern hill German AA 88mm gun decided to move a little of the crest to avoid bombardement so the artillery is having to change their coordinates a little to the southeast of the crest. A partisan squad decided to attack another 88 mm AA position but was routed. Another managed to almost destroy a Flak position on one of the hills in the German rear. Others are sitting and observing German movement in the rear. A German Spec Ops squad found its timely end on the same spot as as their comrades who died there a turn ago. Another one is expected to appear at the same spot.

In the german rear 3 SO special ops squads are found and destroyed. Conversly another one of my special ops squads arrive and destroy one of those nasty artillery.
The south and middle are still fairly quiet (south moreso). The middle one T34 dies to one of my mobile AT platforms. On the flip side one of my tanks trying to kill a SO mobile AT platform dies :rolleyes:
In the north armour elements clash. Tanks on both sides are destroyed.
At the end of turn much artillery falls on both sides monstly in the north except for that promised barage on the southern hill.

The north is becoming a major point. Both sides are committing their forces. Soviet first wave is engaged into hex-to-hex firefight with the Germans.
Scouting T34 dies of 88mm AA gun. With scarce resources left in the rear German spec ops holds off 2 Cavalry squads and AA truck destroying the latter.

Germans are pushing hard in the north but with no major backing, I estimate most of the forces are concentrated in the center and southern flank. Many things happened this turn but my memory is not that good

In the soviet rear the second wave of paratroopers land very near the first waves position. They destroy an artillery piece and an AA truck, along with hurting some inf. Special ops forces also engage and destroy an armoured car and run off a soviet inf squad that was on a truck.
In the north another soviet tank dies a firey death and many soviet inf die.
At the end of the turn a germans pound suspected soviet lines with all forms of artillery.
Overall this turn germans pushed on all fronts and either meet little to no resistance or destroyed and killed what they did find. Germans are still a little concerned at how little of the enemy force has been engaged so far considering how little map is left for them all to be hiding in

German spec ops and paratroopers have been mostly eliminated. There may be one or two squads left wondering in the forrest but due to numerous troops in the area, if there are any remaining they will be spotted very soon.
