Hi all! I lost first game vs Harrybanana and this rematch I want to destroy Soviet forces in 1941 year.
We are started. Random weather, no home rules.
North - I not take Riga, my panzers have 92-104% of fuel.
T 2.
All pocket not re-opening by Soviet.
North - my panzer take Ostrov. Fuel - 20 - 35%, Totenkopf SS Mot.div. - 88%
Infantry prepare to assault Riga.
T3
The weather stop my troops. Europe and Central Zones is MUD. Clear pocket and supply panzers. Some bombing airbase. Air Losses 44/160
Gunther Korten take command by I Fliegerkorps.
A break in the movement on T3 is not too bad for the Axis. It relieves some of the pressure on the Soviets but it is also a bad supply turn for the Axis too. This will allow the rail heads and infantry to close up a bit while keeping the Soviets from being able to run too far - or to maneuver into defensible terrain. Turn 3 is also the Soviet reserves coming on line in Leningrad and Moscow areas. The mud will keep them pretty stationary (not that they are really worth anything until T5 with morale and TOE).
Turn 3 is usually first turn for HQ buildup also and the movement points lost don't feel that bad then. On the other hand it also depends on what the situation was after turn 2. Personally, turn 4 is the real killer if it gets muddy
I've come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubble gum!
I have found that the Axis does much better with only one or two HQBU or even none. The supply situation in late 41 is markedly better without massive HQBUs.
I not used HQ buildup, I fight in the first blizzard and need for this full Motor Pool
I really like it when someone takes the opportunity cost (Wiki: Альтернативные издержки) into consideration.
There is another twist to the issue. If the Axis retreats a couple of hexes, it is the Soviet vehicles that will be lost in supply operations.
