Repair rates of ships

Post by DoomedMantis »

Does anyone know what affects repair rates apart from port size?

For example if I have several ships repairing in the one port, do they all repair at the same rate, or does the rate slow the more ships there are being repaired? Real life dictates that it would, but how does it work in the game?

Each ship repairs at its individual random rate (only factor is size of port). Bigger ships take longer - but number of ships means diddly.

How long would it take for a CA with Sys damage around 50 and flood around 20 to repair? Or CV with S=30, f=15? Base=Turk! Or any other with port 9.

I had my CV and CA in Turk for days, anchored and nothing happened! And those were the only ships in port...

Send the CA home to Tokyo. Its quicker and they might send you a replacement one quicker as well. With regards the CV, with 30 damage its a toss up whether to send it home or not. I use 30 as a guide for my large capital ships especially if they have specific system damage.

You will find that the ships flood damage is repaired first before any system damage is seriously looked at (it can happen but not very often) As far as how long before the ship is down to 0 - how longs a peice of string, but you would be looking at a couple of months anyway.

So, no hopes for the CV? Or... So I should use it on sea until it sinks, or best just to leave it in harbor, and use the planes until some other carrier arives?

The flood damage will repair pretty quickly (less than a week), and with only 30 damage you can still use it for flights (have to have combined flood/system damage above 50 to suspend flights). Also sending it back home doesn't mean you won't see it again, and you might be given one to replace it as well. If you are going to send it home make sure that you do retain the planes and put them a land base.

It really depend on the situation. If you deperately need it then keep it around (it will eventually repair in port and can be used for short forays), but it you have the advantage then use the option of getting it reapaired properly. It may also have a refit while its there. The thing to remember is that it won't take much to significally damage it again, and maybe even sink it, and if your planes couldn't take off then you will lose them also.
