Is this possible to paradrop HQ?

Post by mgaffn1 »

Here's a question for you more experienced programers:

I've been working in the editor to try and create HQ's that can paradrop, to simulate front line combat Generals such as Ridgeway, Gavin, or Kurt Student.

So far, I am able to modify the the staff SFType so it may paradrop, but only if placed in a non HQ unit. If placed in a unit designated as an HQ, no SFType can paradrop.

Basically, the conumdrum is that at the SFType level, you can paradrop staff, but at the unit level an HQ cannot paradrop. Therefor your staff only function as basic infantry, giving no leadership or command bonus.

Anyone know a way around this?

The engine blocks dropping HQs at the moment. Sorry there.

Drop the staff as a unit, then form a HQs after the drop and transfer the staff.
Favoritism is alive and well here.

Try transfer enough transporters into the HQ, then move it into the city you've just conquered.
Not sure whether it works in all situations.

Thanks everyone for suggestions - I'll probably folow Twotribes suggestion, & let the players use these leaders as they choose.
