Setting up a Base

Post by Airborne82nd »

Hi All,
This is probably simple, but I haven't read about it in the manual and am not having much luck. I've moved a TF with Base Forces, Engineers and now a combat unit to Rennell Is., but they will not form a base. The island was unoccupied (green dot). The TF have unloaded, but , still nothing. How does a base symbol form?? Does it just take time?? Please help.

BTW: Awesome game.

It takes time. Click on the dot to make sure that the engineers are working on the airfield.

Sec 17, pg 102 (especially, Sec 17.5, pg 105) in the manual.

Hi Airborne
that is a bad spot to build on also, Rennell is a size 0 base, so gonna take a while for a field or port to come up, on the base screen when you click on the base, it should show you if the bases are being built and how far along they are (u can turn all or some of them on, if you want to try and rush build what you want)

As the previous posts have indicated it will take time especially at Rennel which has zero standard port and airfield sizes. The base symbol will not appear until either the port, airfield, or fortification level reaches 1.

This means under ideal conditions a Base Force with 30 engineers plus a Seabee unit with 30 engineers and 50 engineer vehicles (if they concentrated on 1 area only) would take about 1 to 2 days to get the port to level 1, about 25 days to get the airfield to level 1, or less than 1 day to get the fortification to level 1. If they work on all three simultaneously it will take 3 times longer for each.

Disruption and disabled engineers (caused by fatigue which increase quickly at a place like Rennel) will cause the times to be even longer.

Thanks for all the replys. I'm basically just trying out different things and will have to reconsider my base locations.
