A Few Questions...

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

A Few Questions...

Post by 76mm »

Thanks Matrix for bringing out another East Front game! But now you're bringing out so many that I need to pick and choose which to buy...

A couple of questions about this one:

1) What is the map scale?

2) Is there stacking?

3) Does the scenario editor include a map editor? If so, max map size?

4) I don't imagine you can edit save-game files or import/export data? (helpful for operational layer for tactical games...)

Hello,

1) 5km2
2) No
3) There is an map editor, max map size = 150x150 hexes
4) The savegames are XML files so they can be edited if that desired, there is no option to import/export data yet

For comparison: the max map size is about 46 hexes in WitE terms, so from AGC's northern starting position to Vyazma or from AGS's starting position to Kremenchug.

Thanks for the quick replies. Generally I avoid games without stacking (don't really know why...) but I'll try to look at an AAR or two this weekend to get a better idea about this game.

There are two AARs out, one here in the forums and one on Wargamer, written by ComradeP and me. I also wrote a second, longer one (which is probably better than the Minsk AAR).

Guess some more will come out in the next days or weeks.

I've found I tend to do this as well, but playing Germany at War I've found this not to be an issue at all for me.
