Saving and loading games

Civil War 2 is the definitive grand strategy game of the period. It is a turn based regional game with an emphasis on playability and historical accuracy. It is built on the renowned AGE game engine, with a modern and intuitive interface that makes it easy to learn yet hard to master.
This historical operational strategy game with a simultaneous turn-based engine (WEGO system) that places players at the head of the USA or CSA during the American Civil War (1861-1865).

Saving and loading games

Post by USSLockwood »

I'm a little unclear on how to load a previously saved game. The manual
states that 'hovering the mouse' over a previously saved game provides
shortcuts to file manipulation options. I'm not seeing any options. There
is a reference to a settings file that determines how many turns are saved
but I don't see that option in the CWII folder. Any guidance would be
appreciated.

hi,

The manual is not up to date here, the CW2 interface allows you to go back to a previous turn by selection a scenario (in load game), then you click on the computer chip, and then on the button with the arrow making a turn, and voilà!

The game automatically save for you the last 3 turns. If you want to save more, you can edit that indeed.

Is it possible to have multiple saves of the same game/turn?

Yes, just make sure that each is in a sep named save file directory. The most recent will appear at the top of the load screen.

How do you go about putting each in a separate directory? That has to be
done outside the game via windows explorer right?

yes, if you want an alternate version of a game, you have to copy-paste the saved game
