Change of posture

Civil War 2 is the definitive grand strategy game of the period. It is a turn based regional game with an emphasis on playability and historical accuracy. It is built on the renowned AGE game engine, with a modern and intuitive interface that makes it easy to learn yet hard to master.
This historical operational strategy game with a simultaneous turn-based engine (WEGO system) that places players at the head of the USA or CSA during the American Civil War (1861-1865).

Change of posture

Post by KamilS »

Does posture always change from defensive to offensive when I enter region occupied by enemy? - I move into in defensive posture and end up being in offensive.

It happened not for the first time that my units have changed posture when encountering enemy. Even on defence.

I believe if the military control is less than 5% in your favour then your stack will auto in to an offensive posture in order to gain some ground. So if you go in with a leader who failed his orders roll then you will be forced to attack and have -35% penalty. I learnt this the hard way [:(]

In regions with 5% or less Military Control (i.e., enemy territory), a Stack willautomatically adopt Offensive Posture in an attempt to get a foothold there. However, Stacks in Passive Posture or those composed entirely of cavalry,Irregulars or support Units may transit through enemy territory without switchingPosture.

Does it mean, that stack's posture will change to offensive if its move end there and not change if it continues to move.

If that is true, what will happen if province is not final destination, but stack end up there at the end of turn (and will continue next turn). Will it change posture as well?

The way I read it, if they end the turn in the territory, it will change. Could be wrong.

As an aside, when you cut a railroad, you stopped a Strategic Redeployment I was running. The guy never left.

When they enter the region they do not own (MC%), the stack will switch to offensive posture.

so should Kamil, trying the move he tried up there, have had a few cavalry elements going in front with defense/evade to try to get some MC ? If I am correct this wouldn't work because you don't gain MC on defensive posture, so it would have to be Offense/Evade, hoping that the cavalry can than avoid combat...

Maybe the best solution would be for Beauregard there to have had offense/evade, ie aggressive to try to get some MC, but evade to avoid a long battle, but would he then leave the province or stay ?

I suppose the point in the game play though is that if this was too easily possible, it would lead to even more 64 trenches' type of situation, which doesn't make sense early in the war.
