Is the AI better as Germans or Allies?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Is the AI better as Germans or Allies?

When playing the AI does it respond better as the Germans or Allies? And do you have to bump up the parameters for the AI like you do in WITE?

That's hard to say. Usually, the AI is better at defending, so I would suppose the Germans in WitW is the easier side for the AI. The attacking AI in almost every game requires extra help, unless the defense requires a lot of finesse. My expectation is that you'll want to give the Allies more help when you play as Germans than the other way around. However, as you learn the system, you'll likely want to give the AI some help in either case. The Allied player has more tools to use to push the envelope as he has large amphibious and airborne capabilities. The Allied AI will do different invasions, but is limited compared to what a human can do. I think you can enjoy playing either side, but the bottom line is if you're a good experience player, you will want to give the AI some help, and I expect you'll want to give the Allied AI more help than you give the German AI. I will say I'm surprised how many testers are playing at the normal (non-help level). Testers are free to chime in with their opinions.

just started beta testing last week.Have only played as Allies, got major victory in the tutorial.Played a few turns on easy in the 43 campaign, found the ai Axis to be competent on defence. And also find in attacking against Germans need to have 2-3 times more troops to win and that's after a deliberate attack from 1 hex and a hasty attack from another hex.Italians fold pretty quick.Have not had as much time testing as I would like as work commitments are keeping me busy for the next week, but will start an AAR sometime the end of next weekend
