Tanked!!! help!

Post by Samro11 »

First of Superb game!

I'm having some drama with tanking aircraft.

test environment

RAF Akrotiri
4 x Victor K.1 Tankers
1 x Victor B.2SR Loaded with 35 x 1000lb MK13's.

Target close to Tripoli, Libya just over 11000nm away.
Its on the limit of a B.2SR so I set the tankers to track back n forth in a support mission set to 1/3.
The B.2R hits the target grabbing fuel on the out bound leg only.
1 Tanker RTB's bingo fuel, a replacement takes off from Akrotiri and meets it...

then wieredness!!! the bingo fuel aircraft heads back on station..with the new tanker they keep swaping fuel between the, until one crashes..

I was going to try set up mulite refuel missions but im confused as clearly ive messed something up!
please advise me as to the error of my ways!!!

IIRC there is a refuel option when setting the doctrine for the support mission that you probably could use. Something that forbids air-refueling.

just changed that and ran a few tests the B.2R seems to try and tank but just follows the tanker till it runs out of fuel... [never actually taking any on..]

boom sorted hit a target 1400nm out with 2 refuels!
all about timing making shore the tankers have the fuel.. bit micro management compared to other parts of the game mind!

On the support mission turn off the in air refueling option, and then on the new tanker turn off the in air refueling option...if it's not assigned to a mission, it has it's own options menu. Tanker support is one of the hardest things about this game, and they made some nice changes to it a while back, but it's still a bit buggy.

If you change all the mission and unit preferences to no tanking, and it's still doing that, post a save file for the devs.
