Civilization - Beyond Earth free weekend

Post by terje439 »

It is playable for free this weekend at steam, and also 40% off untill monday, so a great chance to see if you want the game, and if you do, to get it for cheap [:)]

I tried it, looks quite 'nice', just didn't float my boat though.

Does Internet have photo of that hat?
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Seen some having problems getting that free weekend pass. So I decided to go ahead and buy it for 29.99, probably wont be on sale til xmas.

Anyway I mess with it for a day, I have to say it is pretty good game. Got good graphics, soundtracks, but I still like Alpha Centauri better. Still cant raise/lower landscapes, limited cites and aliens if you want to go with alien techs. Wondering if they are planning on making Alien Expansion, so you can play the sixth Manifolds. Just gotta love playing those aliens! Too bad cant stack units anymore.

Here link if you want to check out Alpha Centauri, its only 5.99...

Many thanks for the head's up. I haven't invested in a Civ game since Civ IV. I just don't like the direction Civ took. I still play Civ III occasionally and consider it the last "real" version of "true" Civ.

A good game [:)], but in this day and age, I think it is over-priced [:(].

If you like Civ V you will like Beyond Earth. If you don't like Civ V you won't like this either.

Perhaps a lot of potential for future expansions.

+1
Beyond Earth doesn't have the feel of Alphas Centauri.

Well they did a lot of changed to it, too bad cant stack units or least have a limit of 12 like Call to Power II. You wont be able to expand that big and too bad cant play the aliens like sixth manifolds or even counter one rather than pixie bugs. I am hoping they will add expansion for it, but they haven't decided or even planning on it.

Looks like Alpha Centauri with little different city/unit icons... Yeah, I've got SMAC but not Civ3

I am done with Civ games until we get stacking back. Civ 4 is the best of the lots, especially with mods like Caveman-to-Cosmos.

I am enjoying Beyond Earth a lot, but I do want stacking back.

Only thing I didn't like the game is that when you have a defender in that city/outpost is under siege, once the hit points goes down to zero the attacker can take it regardless what defender you have in there. It will poofed as well aircrafts.

I was told by dev/moderator that it was like that in Civ5 too, I wasn't aware of that. But still they need to correct this, imo need to take out the defender to take the city/outpost.
