Here is a new video for Middle East dealing with Bootcamp 1.

BOOTCAMP 1 VIDEO

What do you think of this format?

Thanks Jason, watched the video, great job! Works well like this too. I do like the spoken comments too, so if you are willing to add an additional Narrator layer afterwards, that would be worth a try.

Maybe enable Larger Toolbar, you have the real estate to do that. Would make the icons a bit more visible, as the video resolution blurs things a bit.

But as said, great job!

Hi Jason,

The format is one of the best, if not the best and most clear I have seen in a war game tutorial.

The only suggestion I would make would be to move a bit more slowly through the various details. I found there was not enough time to fully digest the captions, the menu selections, the mouse cursor movements, and map information.

I did try pausing at points to view the screen but often I was too slow and had to rewind.

Thank you for making the video,

John

Thanks. The captions move too fast for my 60 something year old eyes.

Same comment here. Slow the tutorial down a little bit. Other than that, I love the format. If I had not already worked through the tutorial and didn't already know most of the material, I think I would get lost at some points.

Thank you for the feedback!

A couple of questions:

1. Is it OK that I don't talk through?

2. I can slow down the comments, for sure. That might impact the length of the video though, is that OK?

I think it's fine that you didn't talk. The comments were all to what you were doing and demonstrated everything well. Sometimes I think with audio people talk too much, get distracted, etc. If you do decide to add audio, I would script it so that you don't get lost or stray from what you are showing.

Slowing it down is a must ... I was exhausted trying follow. It did push me over the edge in deciding to purchase the game. Would highly recommend you keep doing these!

Thank you for your support, Panman!! It's appreciated!

I'm going to record Bootcamp 2 today. It takes a little over a week to add the text and things, but I will certaining continuing doing these.

Do you think double time display time for text is good? Or?

I would prefer if you talked, but this is ok.

You could slow down a bit, but not too much I feel, too slow and it becomes boring when it's text only. Also please try to do a few things here and there in 2D. :)

I thought was good to see things in action, but I would actually prefer commentary or both. I think when people talk they can provide more verbose detail which could be useful as long as they stay on topic.

Good stuff though.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

I find I stutter and get flustered.

Bootcamp 2 will be text again

Bootcamp 3 I'll try doing both.

1. it works well without narration.

2. Slowing it down is essential. Pretend you know nothing of the game and watch it that way. That will give you a good sense of what the length should be.

As I'm figuring out the capture software, I have figured that I think I can record a PBEM battle and piece the turns together into one Video AAR.

I wouldn't talk through it and it would be compiled at the end of the PBEM game, but would include a few text blocks of what I am thinking or doing as I play through the game. I can force myself to play slower though!

Would this be something of interest?

This is where a script could come in handy. It may take a little longer to prep, but will keep you structured in your presentation of the material. I would at least double the time between text changes. Trying to read, watch the screen changes, etc. gets to be too much to follow. Even speaking it, you will still want to be structured in your presentation.

Some folks are visual learners, others audio, some can read the manual, and some like a little of all of that combined. Regardless of how you do it, it is a great way to promote the game and demonstrate the mechanics.

Thanks for a great game and the continued effort to help us all get the most out of it!

Would love to see some 2D views of the game. I know some users prefer 3D. I can see the improvement from the old campaign series (and current Tiller series). You guys did a good job. I just prefer to stay away from the 3D as much as possible, it seems too cluttered for me (Personal preference).

I haven't bought the game to this point. I am very interested but am not sold on the 3D which is why i wanted to see the other views.

thank you for keeping this series alive. I truly love the detailed OOB in these types of games.

Regards.

I'm half way through adding text to bootcamp 2, hopefully it will be available in a few days.
