Campaign Series East Front III / timeline & coverage questions

Post by Hoplite1963 »

I see the initial module is scheduled to start in 1939. Will the starting month be January or September. If earlier will it allow the creation of scenarios from the Slovak–Hungarian border war of March 1939 ? Also guess as East Front III is starting in 1939 that we will not get the Czech forces for a counterfactual early start to the war at the time of Munich ? Are there any plans to add them at a later stage along with Turks as well?

Many thanks
Ian

Hello Ian!

The timeline will cover the period from Jan 1939 to Dec 1941, so you're good as far that one goes. As for the exact content, and what's in when the game comes out, what later, it is a bit early still. Jason perhaps can comment that one [:)]

Czech forces won't be included in the initial release, but in the future updates they will be included.

Hi Jason

Thanks for that. I Know I am really pushing my luck here but any chance of a list of the nation / force sets that will ship with the CS Vietnam game ?
Regards

No problem at all, Ian!

The following countries are already built for the game, and they will be included in Vietnam 1.00

China
France
USA
South Vietnam
South Korea
Laos
New Zealand
Australia
North Vietnam
Cambodia

These two are in the works.

Thanks Jason
Does this mean that the Pathet Lao, Khmer Rouge and the Viet Cong forces will use the “Generic ProEast” counters, bases and info box art etc while the NVA have their own ?

Many thanks

I will let Jason provide a more authoritative answer.

But we are constrained by the game code, where nation #s range from 0 to 99. 100 nations ("factions") seems like a good many, but across all the games that the Campaign Series will cover, 100 is really not very many. We need to be careful which nations are assigned their own unique slots, and which marginally significant nations/factions are assigned to the several generic slots.

Why don't we just increase the number of nation slots to > 100 therefore? Ugh, that would raise a host of issues, require all sorts of code and data changes, and risk birthing a horde of bugs. We would much, much rather not do that.

What release date are we looking at? I seem to remember winter 2018 from some where. Would that be January 2018 or December 2018?

Actually what made me ask is I saw the 2.0 manual over on Campaign Series Legion and that got me excited thinking it would be this winter. Oh well, at least I have the Operational Art of War 4 to hold me over.

FYI, we are aiming to include: Russia Germany Hungary Romania Poland Finland With the first release.

With regard to this I see that the Campaign Series Legion website now makes reference to Italy and Slovakia being included with the initial release as well. Is this an oversight or an addition? Either way no worries.

Good catch Hoplite, let me check this with Jason, I might have posted an earlier wish-list at CSLegion.com. I'd imagine things will be in a flux for a moment or two yet, be warned [:)]
