Changes to spotting?

Post by Jagger2002 »

Playing Endgame at Jenin. I just watched 4 platoons of main battle tanks move forward and fire without effect on a platoon of my infantry during the replay. Then as my turn began, all 4 disappeared from sight even though they were still within LOS of my infantry. All the tanks were within 2-3 hexes. 3 tanks platoons were in scrub terrain and 1 in rough terrain. Scenario lOS is 3 hexes at this time. Now many tanks are approaching my forces and 3 other tank platoons in LOS remained displayed on map after sighting but not those 4 platoons.

I don't recall seeing this happen before. Is it a change such that moving/firing units ending their turn in LOS of opposing forces can now disappear from sight or possibly a bug or has it always been this way and I simply hadn't noticed before?

I have V2.0 with the quick fix installed as well. Thanks.

Can you dump the auto-save file here in a .ZIP in order to have a look at it?

It depends on a variety of factors. Note that Clear terrain is not meant to signify absolutely flat; there are slight hillocks and hollows where tanks etc. might go out of LOS. Even in supposed flat, Clear terrain, force concealment still applies; there is not 100% certainty that forces will display. If not Clear terrain, if Scrub or Rough etc., the chance of concealment rises accordingly. It really is a very complex system. Don't be too surprised if seeming anomalies happen. It may in fact be (likely is) the system WAD.
