More help

Post by ReinerAllen »

So, I've established an account and login and the screen comes up with "Challenges" and "Host a Challenge." I want to play a friend of mine, who has a Steam account. What other steps are necessary to notify my friend of the challenge?

Set up a game with a password.

Then phone, email, text , or use matrix pm to contact your friend with the password.

He Clicks on Game and enters the password you gave him.

Game starts

Hate to beat a dead horse, but this is not as easy as it's made out to be. I have the game I bought from Matrix and my friend bought his from Steam. How do we connect?

Also, why can't we just copy the saved game and email it to one another?

I'm not sure how you could manually email the saved game back and forth.

Anyway, to use the in game system do the following:
1. Select PBEM++ Online at the first screen (after hitting Play Game).
2. Select Host Challenge at the second screen.
3a. Pick/highlight the campaign you want (default is the 1939 campaign);
3b. Then select 'Select Campaign'.
4a. Modify Preferences (if desired, default is what most pbem players use);
4b. Type a password (should show up in the box marked password)... you may or may not have to click in the box to start typing.
4c. Copy the password (note: It is case sensitive) to somewhere or memorize it.
4d. Pick a side (using radial buttons).
4e. Click Confirm. Game should now show up under 'My Games'.
5. Contact opponent and provide exact case sensitive password; also provide Gameid# (hover over the game listing) if you want to host multiple challenges.
6. Opponent Selects PBEM++ at first screen.
7. Opponent finds the game (identifies it by your/host username and possibly Gameid# in the list on the upper left (I forgot the title, something like 'Open Games). He selects the game and clicks 'Join'
8. Opponent enters password.
9. Game Server will send an automatic email to the Axis player.
10. Axis Player selects PBEM++ and should see the game in green color under 'My Games'. Selects the game and clicks start turn.

Note: Green means it's your turn. Red means it's your opponent's turn. Italic Text means the game turn is incomplete (either opponent is taking his turn or saved the game without ending their turn).

Well, I did it. Okay, I think I made a mountain of a molehill. Thanks for the breakdown.
