Post by woos1981 »

Hello Development team ,thank you for making this great game! if in the future can add surface units, such as landing boats, small gunboats or fire support boats will greatly increase the game fun.Another suggest feature is if the helicopter can airborne infantry units will be very great.Thank you very much!

Rowing boats would be revolutionary, but I think the designers have said "No", as the AI would have great difficulty figuring out how to use them.

We haven't envisioned naval units yet, because this is primarily a land warfare game. Generally, units that dynamic AI cannot use now, and probably never will be (such as recovery vehicles) might only appear when we include AI scripting for specific human-made scenarios.

Paratrooper probably won't be introduced because realistically they usually need as much as few hours to reassembly and reorganize after being scattered following a large scale drop, plus tactical airhead operations often involve the air-landing of heavy equipment, supplies, and supporting/reinforcing units to consolidate and exploit the initial lodgment. There might be some small-scale exceptions like Rhodesian Foreforce Paradaks, but those are very conflict-specific.

On the other hand, heliborne troops are planned.

There are other games in which we, the players, accept that the AI is incapable of using certain units; but "half a loaf is better than no bread".

... which opens the door to "paratroopers" arriving via house rules.

For example we could use the paratrooper arrival rules from the old Yacquinto boardgame "Armour" to determine where each stick shall land relative to where they were supposed to land. The stick is then delivered by helicopter(s). The player undertakes to fly the(se) helicopter(s) away, not to be used again. If the helicopter is shot down, then hard cheese. If the arrival rules drop the "paratroops" on bodies of water or dense forest then again they are lost.

I greatly miss the extra rules we used to be able to add to board games.
