Airdropping Units

Post by Chris21wen »

What am I missing here. There's no option to drop units, just supply and fuel.

All requirements according to the rules are met so why?

'Regimental or brigade sized Airborne type combat units with an average experience level of at least forty can be airdropped into any hex vacant of enemy units that is within 8 hexes of a supplied friendly unit. The eligible airborne combat unit must have at least one movement point remaining and be located in the same hex as a staging airbase unit (16.1.3). The airdrop mission can be conducted only by transport air group units with aircraft that have a maximum load rating (5.4.18) of at least 2000, further, the number of 'Max Sorties' must at least equal the number of 'Required Sorties' for the air group units selected to conduct the mission as displayed in the 'Pick Air Units for Mission' window. The mission can be escorted by fighter air group units. (5.3.9.3). '

The target hex was selected for a test.

Ok here’s what works for me in 12.04/5.
Checklist: airbase in valid hex, has 1+ MP, transport available, doctrine settings let it fly, day time, airborne brigade or German flieger regiment with xp > 40 in commander report and at least one MP stacked with airbase.

1. Click hex.
2. Press F9. Should have a CPU delay here for computation.
3. Click toggle shift button (too toolbar by night mission toggle).
4. Left click same hex. Para icon shows up and sometimes transport screen shows up. Delay should be here too.
5. X out of drop screen.
6. Left click valid drop hex and execute.

If any time SUPPLY transport screen shows up start over including undoing the shift toggle button.

Well that certainly worked.

What I don't understand is why the instructions no longer work as in the unofficial manual with aircraft list etc appearing as a normally supply drop does. When I wrote it they most certainly did, I tested it. Something I think has been screwed.
