Upcoming mod(s) and a question

Post by Tempest5 »

I got a truck icon mod I will be posting. see attached jpg.

For my personal use I also have the 'historical' flag in my game.
I am sure some players may want it.
But I am hesitant to post a screen capture.
In one flight sim forum you cannot even post the image of the flag. I can understand that.

Is there any issues posting this mod from anyone including the Moderator?

My late Mother was German and my earliest memories of WWII was at a playground as a child in Nuremberg in 1958.

I always saw a lot of men walking past on on the adjacent sidewalk; without an arm or without a leg.
FWIW.

The Swastika is not a banned image in UK, I'm not sure about Americans though, it's easy to offend a lot of them. I also despise censorship.

I believe Germany has issues with the swastika.
Why someone has to resort to using a flag that has been associated with atrocities and hate since the 1930s when there are very nice alternatives that one could use that would be less likely to offend anyone and would still be identifiable with the German military of World War II is a mystery?

Keep up with the mods, and don't worry about offending any of us! [:)]

I believe most wargamers like historical accuracy. This to me, is nothing more than that.

Was surprised no historical flag mod has been published, I always use historical markings if available or add them myself.
I’ve hybridized Philippe’s earlier mod and have modified it for DC4.

Most art work and mods one can find from DC:CP etc. Hope the chap who promised me additional NATO symbols for Special Forces, Pz.Pio, etc is working on them.

Ah, the historical accuracy ruse.

Well them I'm sure you'll be first to ask, no demand, that the developer put in two options for the German player
* Massacre civilians
* Massacre unarmed prisoners

Afterall, it's all about historical accuracy, right?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

Enjoy your game.

Oh for goodness sake, it's a game and historical simulation, and let's not go there regarding murder of POW's, we both know that both sides are guilty.

Ah, the typical historically uninformed response.

I guess we should prohibit the use of the hammer and sickle too, you know the Russians weren't good either. Going back into the depth of history, we should ban the cross. Those crusades were just nasty... That does eliminate a lot of flags, but who cares, let's remove all the symbols of historical accuracy, and just have a fairy tale memory of history. It's a kind of historical whitewashing.

Enjoy your purity and sense of being innocent.

That’s the nice thing about mods.

The developer can create an open game that allows for customizable art work.

You can use the default art.
You can create your own art replacing the PzGren with pink fluffy bunnies
You can use artwork other people have created…

All optional, everybody happy,
Now some people only seem satisfied if they can limit the options for others, which is rather ironic imo.

All graphics user updates can be put into graphicsAlt folder. That how is made that game. Users can update gfx in any way they please.
Personally, I will not use swastika. I don't like it. But I would not ban others for using it. Glad you asked. I think there will be no problems with that mod.

There is no such thing as a historically accurate strategy game. Every game stops being historically accurate from the very first move player do. First unit that moves ahistorically, first battle with non-historical results, mean we ride in unknown.
