Fleet trapped
This is not a new thing but I would like to propose a solution. If French or UK fleets are trying to intercept the German navy near Oslo, it is becoming trapped for the rest of the game.

RE: Fleet trapped
And they can destroyed German supplies. I assume they can use supply oilers for resupply as well. Harrybanana did say something about it.

RE: Fleet trapped
Thus, two possible solutions in the code.
First solution:
Allow Allies fleets to pass the two highlighted hexes and ONLY these two ones in ONE direction i.e. towards North Sea.

RE: Fleet trapped
Another solution would be a "return to port" order for fleets. Which returns the fleet in 2-3 turns to a major aligned port, no matter the current fleets location.
RE: Fleet trapped
Second solution:
The preferred one for me due to the supply oiler issue. Implement an event script that takes any Allies fleet located within the highlighted boundaries and put them back in their country's deployment queue with a penalty of two or three turns.

You are posting faster than me without screenshots... [:D]
So, looks like the second solution, correct? Or is it a third one?

RE: Fleet trapped
If they want to intercept they get stuck.
For me it is a French exploit. They send their ships because if they get sunk nothing is lost.
So you are giving the Allies a free pass.
Do not like that. They should have a consequence...perhaps have to go back to the deployment queue for 6 months and remove French supply oilers so they can only bother the Germans for 2 turns then they have no supply.
Everyone knows that they get stuck if they do that.

RE: Fleet trapped
In fact, in the latest patch, French have no more shipyards and no more supply oilers.
Thus, they will be annoying for just three turns.
And the first date they can have a shipyard is October 5, 1940. We are safe. [:)]

Third solution:
Which makes me think of a third solution, perhaps even better, why these two minefields can't be on the map at the beginning of the Europe 1939 scenario?
German fleets have the Kiel canal to access North Sea.
It will mean the Denmark must be invaded before going for Norway. But, is it not what is done today?

RE: Fleet trapped
If you put those minefields there the Allies can not invade Norway if they want too.
RE: Fleet trapped
They can invade Norway. They can't land in Oslo. Does it really matter?

RE: Fleet trapped
Yes. They can't make it surrender in one turn like they do now.
RE: Fleet trapped
Yeah, I don't think blocking the allied invasion of Oslo would be a good idea...
RE: Fleet trapped
What if minefields were changed from
"Impassable"
to
"Must stop when entered, and may take damage"
?

RE: Fleet trapped
Probably auto return to base is the best option. It also solved the frozen fleet issue in blizzard.

RE: Fleet trapped
I think auto return is fine to a point...
But again you are allowing them an exploit in my eyes.
The French fleet just goes because losing it costs nothing.
No UK ships are sent there because they could be permanently lost.
I think they should be moved to the deployment queue for X months as a punishment for doing something they should not be.
Perhaps it takes 2 turns to get back and they have to sit for a turn so that they can be bombed if the opponent wishes.
This would make the French ponder should they do this as they will lose their fleet for the battle in France.
I mean look at how badly air gets punished for being overrun where as a shatter unit is back in less than half the time.

RE: Fleet trapped
The Italians are stuck too.
RE: Fleet trapped
Yep, even if the Axis take Egypt they are still stuck...
RE: Fleet trapped
Well Alvaro, another bug to consider that I have never seen before (v1.00.15 patch).
There is a minefield missing after the event triggers...
