Only one choice per user and no changes so choose wisely.

So far the results are surprising and I think Loki is right.

What did Loki say?

BTW, it is just 21 voters. It is too far from a good population.

Wait, wasn't there a different poll yesterday? About whether you play multiplayer via PBEM or the servers?

true but a point I raised with Dom.

most purely AI players have limited forum engagement, they might ask a very precise question if stuck, read a thread that looks like its of value but very rarely much more than that. The more visible posters are disproportionately from the MP community for the reason they often are looking for more information given the nature of the game play. A purely personal view is this became a problem with WiTE1 after 2by3 stopped their involvement in game development. Changes were very much made to fit the vocal opinions of the MP part of the community, when a valid strategy would have been to accept the basic design and iron out the remaining bugs. Dominik did a great job but the end point is a mature game that isn't really balanced and has substantial bugs in its final beta. When, given the effort he put in, the end point could be a mature game which works and is seen to be broadly an equal contest etc.

I play a lot of games purely vs the AI, no interest in MP and that is a pretty good description of my posting record in those forums (not all on this wider site).

Or, in other words, I'm actually suprised the AI community in this poll is a high as it is ...

I only play against the AI. Loki is pretty accurate on how I use the Forum. I want to know about major changes that fix bugs and / or create a more balanced game vs the AI. I want a game that accurately as possible reflects the capabilities of the forces at that time. I greatly appreciate all the effort to create an AI that is a capable opponent. For most games that means playing the attacker (in this case the Germans) because the AI is usually better defensively. I also like to try different strategies during a game so will start and stop playing depending on how things are going. I do not care about the details of a specific plane's loadout, for example. I care that the overall results are consistent at a strategic level. So this is not conducive to playing against other people. I also don't play against other people because I like to play at my pace when I feel like it. So thanks to everyone who works so hard to improve the game as well as to those who explain how the game works. My guess is that you have a much larger number of forum viewers than comentators.

All good points and I agree completely. I only play against the AI and against myself - I have long cultivated the art of making sure the left half of my head doesn't know what the right half is up to. Its better that way.

Could not play anything else than vs human. Playing vs AI is plain boring and AI always sucks in what ever strategy/operational/tactical game one choose to play. Easy to predict and if you beef it up with extra help it takes the fun out of it, then it is not for "real".

I can not understand why the majority in the strategic/operational/tacical communities ever play vs the AI. If I want to learn a game I play my self in hot seat (if possible of course) at first to learn the basics. Then directly vs human.

But it is of course good that there is an AI for those who like it, but I my self can not imagine whats fun with it.

Just one minor nitpick, my name is Don, not Dom.

I also play only against the AI and look for a relaxing experience. MP tends to be very competitive. Nobody including myself likes to lose against another human. But that means minmaxing the rules, which is tedious and tends to destroy the immersion into the game world. It would be cool to have a cooperative MP with two people being able to make moves for the same country. At least I think so. One person could be responsibie for logistics and the other for the air war, one for the north and the other for the south etc.

You can still do that, it will be just like PBEM multiplayer. One person starts the turn, then passes the intermediate save to another, then to another one, until the turn is done.

Sure, I know. But wouldn't it be cool to have the game open at the same time? Probably the effort is too high to be realistic, but I think it is an ok idea just as brainstorming.

I only play against the AI and I come here because I don't know a lot about this game yet. I'm doing what *I'm* doing, but absent the experience gained by playing often I have no idea if what I'm doing is relatively effective or good.

Like I have no way to guage whether or not losing Smolensk on t5 is ok or not without seeing AARs where it turns out that's about average. So now I know that I'm not horribly fucking up my game using the strategy I'm using.

In no particular order, here's why I like playing vs the AI:

1- the AI is challenging until I figure it out

2- the AI never has to go to work or take out the trash or go on vacation for two weeks

3- I really hate Nazis and really like kicking their teeth in

4- it's harder to make the AI ragequit via trash talk

would be really nice to have AI comments for a players turn :D

- retaken Lviv, Minsk on t2, wtf?
- refit on depot to make Kulik's division - game manipulations!
- set supply priority 4 on turn 1 and forget about it for the next two game years if not to the end of the game? - i'm out
