Capture everything

Post by skigrinder »

I can't capture enemy defense bases or spaceports because, after winning the assault pod battle, the target is destroyed with a message (paraphrased): "We captured the base and immediately destroyed it because it was connected to an enemy colony".
Is there an option that will allow me to keep the captured base/spaceport (like in DW1)?

Also, I'd like to capture all ships that try to attack my colonies.
I've built defense bases and spaceports with plenty of Assault Pods but they only destroy the attacking ships.
Is there an option/stance that can be given to a base/spaceport to capture instead of destroy?

Also, is it possible (maybe with a mod) to create a planetary facility with a huge number of Assault Pods that would capture all attacking ships instead of destroying them.

Also, what happened to the shield depleter weapon from DW1?
I don't see it in the research tree (but I did select random research).
Is it still a thing?
Shield Depleters are/were the best weapons when the end goal is to capture the target.

Thanx & sorry for the long-winded, multi-question post.

Bases are connected to the planet in DW2... so you have to capture the planet. You then automatically capture the bases as well.

Your best bet for capturing ships is the Ion cannon line of weapons, I think it is linked with blaster weapons tech line.

I don't see a reason ships would be destroyed if you capture them with a station... never even tried this though.

In Policy Settings check to see what your default action is for capturing ships and capturing bases. In DWU it seemed that no matter what your Policy settings were for captured ships and bases you still had the option to manually decide. In DW2 it seems to me that what you chose in Policy Settings automatically happens.
I once heard there was a garage, which some said was air tight.
