Official Strategic Command Tournaments

The point system is as follows:

1) Victory Conditions - Map situation is in effect right from the get go, e.g. current victory conditions are weighed into the score, and of course victory conditions change from the start of the campaign to the finish.

CAMPAIGN SCORING (VICTORY CONDITIONS)
100 MAJOR
75 MINOR
50 STALEMATE

2) Kills Ratio - The strength point losses in MPPs you inflict on your opponent relative to the strength point losses in MPPs he inflicts upon you.

3) National Morale Ratio - National Morale of all your major nations on your side, including those that have surrendered (those that have surrendered will have 0 NM applied to the formula) relative to 100% will factor in to the score

4) MPP Growth - Current total MPPs relative to your at start home MPPs for all major nations on your side will factor into the score as well, e.g. if you are expanding and your opponent is contracting, you are doing better with this factor than he will be etc.

* * *

The major portion is the current victory conditions, e.g. item 1), while items 2) to 4) will push that score a bit higher or lower depending on how you are doing.

Scores are relative to 100 points, and if you are in a MAJOR VICTORY position which equals 100 Victory points, then you can certainly push higher than 100 points if you are also doing very well in the other categories, or push a bit lower if you did not do so well and paid a heavy toll to get there. Doing well also generally means your score is pushed higher while your opponents score is pushed lower, and vice versa.

* * *

If your opponent does not play then they would be kicked from the next round and you would collect the BYE points of 75 per game.

* * *

Once it begins, you can access your Tournament games by entering the PBEM area, and then clicking on the Tournament button at the bottom right of the screen.

HI guys,
anybody has contact to larizona55? I am currently playing final round of tournament with him, but so far we did only few turns, because he did three turns at the begining of the month, then he was silent for ten days, later last weekend he did one turn, since then, silence again. I wrote him in the game, if he is ok, but last time he did his move, he did not reply. Anybody has his PM on forum? Or email? Is he ok?
There is only 10 days left to finish the tournament, and I would like to complete it, so I would like to contact him.
Thanks for any help

It´s always the same issue in this tournaments...
My last two opponents in this tournament play once per week... I can´t understand them.

So I can share your frustration...

Best wishes

Hi,
yeah, the result is the last round my opponent did four moves, that's all, we reached June 1916. Last move he did was on February 21st, and he didn't reply my messages both on forum or in the game screen. So for me tournament ended then. It is a pity, because I had very good results. When I played the British I surronded and destoryed Von Lettow HQ and troops in first few moves. When I played for Germans I captured Mombasa in turn 3, and by then didn't lose any german unit except one garrison. I was looking forward to finish both games in spring 1917... but it is what it is.
I know it is hard to play when you are losing, but, C'mon, I got, for my first tournament ever, first match with Katanatan. I admit, I was whining, when he was crushing me in this Balkan scenario, but I kept playing even though I knew I can't get good score. Because it is a tournament, and because I could learn something.
Anyway, are there any ideas how to prevent this kind of situations in the future?

Hi Jazon,
I had 6 matches each until victory (despite some bugs which lead to repeated turns due to our game jumping from turn 96 back to turn 80 in the last one). I must say it was a nice experience and because i had a high score in the first game (#3 in balkans, felt i did MUCH better in tsars campaign but scoring doesnt correlate necessarily to game feel i guess xD) i was put against other top or more invested players.
I also had a major advantage that i could play each of the three scenarios against quite competent and 1916 expert players at least once for preparation. Though i still feel sometimes insecure which strategy or opening positions are best.

Now concerning your question, the solution is very simple, but would take time. Each round (which took 1 month) the "bye" players were weeded out. The winners got understandably but regretably meager 75 points though more could be overpowered.
Either a league or a tournament with more rounds would lead to people being more comitted, because there would be more games and the more interested or really interested players would stay.

(also my first tournament aswell, i kinda missed or was stressed during last tournaments :roll: )

Some tournaments go 5 rounds so almost half a year. Or a tournament in a league or group style could have you play against 3 ppl in a group of 4 and the top 2 advance (similiar sports game group stage). I fear that this would take much organization for slitherine and the more realistic solution could be the previously stated broader (more opponents/games at once) or longer (more rounds) tournaments. You would after 1 month be paired with the players who play more /get more points and they players who say just go for 2 out of their 6 games could get paired with similiar players (or fall out).

Also shoutout to my 3 opponents Jazon, nijis, fafnir. good spirit and fairplay.

Hi,
also thank you for good game! I learned something there. As for idea for tournaments, maybe this league idea would work. So first few groups with 4 players, 3 matches for each. There could be some rating for finished games, so for example if you have completed in tournaments like 3 matches, you got "3" in your description. Later there could be some tournaments only for players who have some matches under their belt. I don't know, I am just thinking, I hope we could find some good solution.
Also I would like to say thanks to Erfandor, with whom i played Russian Civil war. In the middle of the game it was obvious I will prevail, but he kept resisting, and taking Moscow was a true effort for me. The same when he played whites, I needed to walk all way to the Warsaw.
Cheers everyone!
