Mouse map scrolling issue on SC Classic games

Post by CaesarAug »

Thought to post in this forum, not sure about how active the SC Classic games forums are.

I’m noticing that map mouse scroll on all SC Classic games on Windows 11 Pro has a strange issue: it can scroll the map up and left, but not down and right. Fortunately, the arrow keys work as expected.

It’s definitely a SC Classic issue, never experience this in the SC3 games series.

Any known fix for this? Thanks.

EDIT: normally playing on a 4K 27” monitor @3840x2160 (200%), switched monitor to 1920x1080 (100%) and tried games @1920x1080 windowed mode. Mouse map scroll works in all four directions. 😌

Yes, I love when these issues can be corrected with workarounds.

I’m also noting that “windowed” mode is actually “windowed borderless”, in the SC2 game series, that is.

One pending issue that I haven’t been able to correct is the game editor for SC Classic World War II: opening a scenario from any of the three sub-mods (Pacific Theatre, Patton Drives East, Weapons and Warfare), the map is mainly all white, with units and other land features partially hidden. Very odd since it appears to only affect this particular game, not the other two SC Classic games…

Comparing the SC2 and SC3 games series, certainly a top-down view of the map with hexes is more traditional wargaming, I must admit that isometric maps with tiles are also quite nice.

Oh yes, I own all SC series! :)
