Global War end game very slow

Post by FonjoFarley »

Currently playing as allies in a Global War game in Jul/Aug 43 using NetPlay. In the last week or so the play has been extremely slow. It can take 40 seconds to move a land unit for the allies. Other phases have significant hold ups as well.

I'm hoping that maybe the server has been experiencing problems but has anybody else experienced a major slow down in the game as they get into the later years of a Global game? There's an awful lot of units in play....

Cannot tell, we just ended our game last week and will not start a new one till next.

However, it had never been so much time working badly in my experience, it's worrisome.

I noticed the same thing. It is also a nightmare when returning large fleets to port at the end of a turn, enough to make the game crash. Yet, sometimes it stops to be an issue, without any apparent reason.

However, let's be honest, this will not be fixed anytime soon, maybe never.

I recommend you guys to play in parallel a Barbarossa against the AI while waiting for the calculations...

a solution may be to do head to head on one comp and take it over remotely.... makes a bit of a joke of US entry... but hey

You guys are worrying me, we are scheduled to start a new game next week, and being the things like that... I guess if it keeps like that we'll need to warn Matrix, after all, the server will be theirs, not specifically MWIF's.

juntoalmar, in this case it is not a computing resources problem like I guess it is regarding AI, but a server problem. It shouldn't be that bad, and let's not forget the fact that having to play through a dedicated server is a demand of MWIF, not of the players (I guess to fight piracy), but if they force us to play through a server at least they should have that server at permanent (almost) optimal conditions.

@Jose: if it only happens at the end of the game (and not in a new one, for example) I assume it's something related to calculations, as the message of moving one counter to the server should be the same in both cases.
