5 lvl Urban Fort Goes Down in a Single Attack

Post by Metalist »

Hi all.

In my ongoing VtB game Königsberg with a 5 level fort falls in a single attack. It was not isolated, hence the routing of the units. Defensive CV suffers a massive drop, from 9.8 k to 1.6. Men wise Soviets did not have a terrible advantage in the context of urban warfare in my opinion, but they did have massive amount of artillery. In any case this does not make much sense to me, shouldn't the city resist for at least a few turns? I remember something like if a fort level is 5 or 4 even if the attacker wins fort level goes down first, but I guess this was in WITE1. Apparently WITE2 does not have it, no?

In short, do you think this battle result can be justified from a historical perspective?

Thanks.

P.S.: The game version is the latest official 1.03.11

It was a close battle, considering you were outnumbered 5:1 in ground elements. If you had a few more support units, it would have been a hold. Pioneers, artillery and heavy flak are very effective in these urban battles.

How were your Units supplied? The Divisions CV are much lower than in K62s example.

In terms of Königsberg it is historically alright. But for other historical examples where you can see similar outcomes while IRL the battle lasted longer things feel weird indeed. It's always the question how to immerse the 1week turn in comparison to a deliberate attack (which imo represents like 3-4days).
I like the idea that was added to WITE1, but this mechanic has not made it into WITE2.

Thanks for the tip.

On average they had %120 Supply, and %80~ ammo and fuel, so they had more than enough.
