No Movement Allowed?

Post by HansBolter »

Twice I have experienced a bug wherein no cross country movement is allowed.
The first time it happened I discovered that only rail movement functioned.
Since this happened at the beginning of the first winter I presumed it was some sort of extreme weather effect and hoped that the opposing forces were just as locked in place as mine.

After saving, closing and later restarting the game I discovered that my locked in place units were able to move after all.

This just happened again and I grabbed a screenshot. After completion of the Air Phase, the game defaulted to the cross country movement setting, but every unit selected has no ability to move cross country. No amount of switching to another movement modes and back removes the lockdown. Only closing and restarting the game resolves the issue.

Thought someone should be alerted to this problem.

Yes, Pavel said he would look into what might be causing this, and hopefully he can find a fix for it. It seems it is "fixed" whenever you exit and load in a save. So if you see units with MPs that have no movement path compass showing up, for now, you need to save, exit and reload the save.

I can confirm this. It's happened 3 times to me so far but I can't figure out what's causing it. Tried pressing just about every button combination to fix it but no luck.
But yes closing the game down completely and restarting fixes it.

Pavel said something may be stomping on some core engine functions, but figuring out what is causing this may not be easy.
