Fantastic!

Quick question on manual patching on top of Matrix release (non-Steam version): can manual patches like this one confuse Matrix installer later? Can it detect and repair any files (also not covered by an update) if they were touched or corrupted (i.e. like steam's file integrity check)?

Make a backup with the default installation from Matrix installer and then apply the patch on a copy of that backup, if you encounter any issues you can revert to the backup.

It is a 30GB folder ;)

In this case it is just the exe and a campaign file.

What I do, because I like to compare builds, is just to rename the previous exe(s), before extracting so there is no overwrite.

Command 1487.exe

And extract the new build in CMO folder.

Command.exe is the last build, right now 1493.

Command 1487.exe

Command 1483.exe

...

Running the old builds renamed cause no harm at all, except that if you have 2 GPUs, the old one will use Intel GPU. And it is easily solved if needed.

And answering stolowski questions.

No Matrix installer confusion, you are changing one file for another (if you overwrite).

AFAIK there is no file integrity check like in steam.

I have downloaded the file for build 1493 several times from this link and all I get is an updated Northern Inferno scenario and an application file that appears to just update the scenario. The installer (Check for Updates) on the start page does not recognize it as having been installed. Any idea what is causing this? My File Manager labels it as a "Compressed Archive Folder", not a "Compressed (zipped) Folder" like earlier downloads.

The last build is 1500.

Regarding 7z file format, use this software to extract the content. Probably Windows is not allowing you to extract an exe file due to security reasons.
