How to use a designed map for PBM ?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

How to use a designed map for PBM ?

Post by Frank W. »

Seems the comp sometimes throws the retreat + reeinforcement hexes on the wrong side.

say US is on the left but the game places his retreat + reinforcement hexes on the german ( right ) side of the battlefield.

i even set these by hand in the editor but it doesn´t hep sometimes it is still wrong !

anyone knows a solution for this strange behaviour of the game ?

thanx in advance

It has something to do with how you design the map, I haven't been able to figure it out (not that I have been seriously tyring ;) )...

Btw, I guess everyone knows what you can do when the reinforcement hex is in the enemy rear. :p

I did a search on the forum and it seems that you must choose the same nations and same month and year in the editor that you're going to play the battle with when saving the map. Have to check this out though.

So if you are playing a battle like US vs Germans at 8/44 on a custom map, you'll have to go to the editor, load the map used, set player 1 as the US, player 2 as the Germans, and set the time to august 1944 and save the map again.

In the past I was told that the only way to fix this is to swap 'player-1' and 'player-2'. In West Front battles, the game 'assumes' Germany will be on the right side of the map (and will be 'player-2')...in East Front fights it expects them to start from the left (and be 'player-1'). Perhaps someone has found a way to get around this now.
