Rommel's Iraqi Campaign 1941 V1.21
Rommel's Iraqi Campaign 1941 V1.21
I have just got this scenario done and there might be gliches, if so don't hesitate to comment, please forgive me for my bad English and merci d'avance.
I used the Sadam's Final Gamble 2003 map for Iraq and did some changes, I also took some order of battle from the North African Campaign.
This scenario is now PO programmed.
Intorduction:
The scenario is desingned above a hypothesis that the commonwealth army failed to defend Egypt in 1941.
In 1940/9, the Italians embarked on an invasion into egypt, O'connor soon responded with a raid that drove the Italians out of Benghazi. However, Graziani reacted quickly and operated a successful retreat which managed to Retaine mostpart of the Italian forces.
After the Arrival of Rommel in early 1941, the axis started an offensive manuver so overwhelming that the british army failed to carry out any disruption operations. Toburk fell in Feburary.
Soon did the commonwealth existance in Africa Collapsed as Italians carried out their own counter-offensive in east Africa and the Vichy France army did the same in Syria. Churchil ordered a full retreat from Africa before the fall of Alexandria.
With the Axis advancing, a coup-d'etat happened in Iraq where Rashid Ali proclaimed himself Chief of the National Defence Government. Churchil realised that this means Iraq would join the axis anytime and if so Rommel would be able to advance into Iran and fully control the resources and strongpionts in th Middle-East. Quickly did he amassed troops at the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border preparing for an invasion to overthrow Rashild Ali.
The scenario begins at the start of the invasion, 4/1/1941. Same time as Rommel advance into Alexandria.
Rules:
Since that the restriction zone in the north is to simluate the northern part of Iraq, Commenwealth forces are therefore not expected to enter.
Notes:
There is a restrion zone at the west border of the map symbolizing the arrival of Free French army from Syria, this zone will be lifted at turn 4.
Commenwealth has their major supply points in Kuwait city and Port Umm Qasr. Axis has their major supply points in the northen border and in Bagdad, while there are also minor commenwealth supply points in Bagdad.
Both sides has minor supply points in Al Basrah, An Nasiriyah, As Samawah, Ad Diwaniyah, Al Hillah, and Al Iskandariyah.

Re: Rommel's Iraqi Campaign 1941
This one looks like great fun, I plan to give it a go when time allows. You may want to check the scenario Properties in the View Menu in the Editor. There are a few warnings there that can be resolved.

Re: Rommel's Iraqi Campaign 1941
yep I hadn't assigned no vitory points but this shounldn't be a big problem, I'm trying to give this one a playable PO while setting the VPs up, thanks
Re: Rommel's Iraqi Campaign 1941 V1.11

The VPs in Bagadad is now scattered across the whole city's urban area
The mobile ability is decreased to make it more playable
The rail repair ability each turn is now 15

Since that the railroads in Iraq can be in fact used commonly, I decided to delete the damage rate of rails

Re: Rommel's Iraqi Campaign 1941 V1.12
I’m always interested in hypothetical scenarios and even though an Axis takeover of the Middle East has been explored before, I don’t think it has been done in the detail that you provide. Nice job.
A couple of comments:
1. Divisions have subunits identified as Bde HQs. The example below is the 50th Division with the 69th Bde HQ as a subunit. As designed the 69th HQ will perform as a common infantry unit with no special capability. If that’s the intent, good, no need to make a change. However, if you would like for the 69th Bde HQ to behave more like a HQ in the sense that it provides supply, you can add the HQ icon as the secondary icon. It will not have a command function, but it will enhance supply to adjacent cooperative units. If you would like the 69th HQ to have a supply range greater than 1 hex, you can instead add the supply icon as the secondary. The 69th Bde HQ will then have the range defined for supply units.

2. The map seems to have unwanted features imported from the source material. Unless necessary for the scenario, suggest eliminating entrenchments scattered around the countryside. Roads and water could also use a bit of clean up.

Thanks for your reply
About the example you had given, which is 69th Bde HQ. This is because I have used some troops' order of battle from The North African Campaign Scenario, in which subunits Bde HQs are resembled in this way with no actual command groups and perform as a regular unit. However, there are also Bde HQ subunits with command groups. For the order of battle I had ecrited, I also followed this rule. How to tell the diffrence between these two? Bde HQs with actual HQ icons also have actual command group and command ability, and vice versa. This is more like a game mechanic than a default. So I'm pretty OK with it.
About the map's problem, this is because I didn't use any graphics/icon mod, and for me the part of map where those awkward problems lies looks like this so i didn't really notice. So thanks. I'm gonna re-edit these roads and delte the entrenches.

And by the way, I noticed that the name of the armes you screenshoted wasn't diplayed properly. Is it because any of your mods or is it a common problem due to I ecrited this scenario with Chinese? If so is there any ways of an amendment?

The correct form of these rectangles on your screenshot seems to be:
突击侦察步枪组
冲锋枪组
中型机枪
重机枪
卡车
This doesn't look good at all

Just have to say that your comments are routinely on point, helpful, and specific. There is a core group on this site who post similarly, but this just happened to be the one that caught my eye this morning. It really is the Lord's work* you guys do on here, upping the game of the rest of us and ultimately making the game itself a better experience by making our contributions better.
