Ship repair

Post by irishman »

I've got a very sick carrier docked in Truk but I can't send it to Japan to get fixed. It just sits in Truk and doesn't heal at all. Do I need to turn it into a task force or something before I can dispatch it away for long term repair? Anybody?

You should be able to send it to Japan from the ship's detail screen. Ensure it's docked, not in a task force, then access the ship from the port screen. An option appears to let you return it to Japan.

Note: it'll take longer if there's still float damage. But, if you think it might sink, send it home.

it needs to be disbanded in port, not docked, then access the port list find the ship and an option to the bottom right allows you to return to Tokyo

Make sure there's no damage to weapon system or other system internals .
There's still a bug in UV as these things won't be repaired in Truk/Pearl and they become permanently damaged if not repaired but sent home

I`ve a another question for you all about ship repair. Does the number of ships in size 9 port that need repairs affect the speed of repairs? I have 5 ships in Nomeau that have damage between 10 and 20. It seems at moment that on each turn a different ship has a point of sys damage reduced. I am now starting to wonder if it would spped things up to spread damaged ships out among ports. Though my gut feeling on this is that it wouldn`t. Any definitive info on this? Damn system damage acculates much quicker than it repairs!

Don't think the number of ships in the port affects the rate of repairs, from all my experience (around 10 years of play in game time). SYS repair is quicker under 10 than over 10, so it's a good thing to dock every ship with SYS under 5 for some days, if you can afford it. Also smaller ships repair faster than bigger ones.

If you have an Allied ship with SYS damage around 20, and that her AA may be upgraded, sent it back to Pearl, she will return with no damage at all, a better AA (and maybe ASW and radar) and in no more times than repairs will take in Noumea... at least if you have not a low probability of naval release.
