Voting is a waste of time. Sad that all those vets died or suffered for nada. Worse for you Americans with only two parties...what a joke the concept of democracy has become.

Mr. Ron Saueracker:

Voting is never a waste of time, simple not voting is when you waste your time.

Ron, you got it backwards ... hammer down a few *THEN* go vote. You'll feel much better when you vote for the crook.

Yep, and bars are open! LOL With the government in Canada being the number 1 employer and no option for those taxpayers who think the choices suck so don't vote (apathy, anger, disgust etc) so lose their numerical existance, it's no wonder why the criminals get majority gov'ts every four years. Canada and most other so called "democratic" countries have really lost it.

...had about 10 beers and -6 shots.[8D] Voted first though out of desparation to nix another Liberal majority govt. Does not look good. Too many voters sucking govt teet.

Ron,
If you don't exercise your right to vote; complaining about the idiotic policies seems much less fun.

If it's a joke, then you must be the joker...or one of 'em. Seriously; Take a deep breath, clear you mind and get out and get involved in the political process yourself. Become a party volunteer, canvasser, fundraiser, whatever. Doing nothing but bemoaning the end of democracy only accelerates the process. In other words - lead, follow, or get the heck out of the way.

And good luck to you. [:)]

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship."

I'm too pissed to get into the details why voting has lost its viability. Maybe after I have a few more spots of tea. Really, there is no accountability or anything, and in Canada, politics has never been more popular a topic! Has everyone lost their minds, morals, an[8|]d their eyes?

Hey! for everyone who thinks I did not vote...I did. First time since '88. It has gotten that bad that I had to vote for someone I did not want purely based on the fact that it may prevent a majority govt by a party I dislike even more. pretty sad that a majority govt can be formed on 1% of the vote!

Seriously Ron, in the last presidential election it was my daughter's first chance to vote. She was a bit apathetic, but did discuss the issues with us and ended up voting. New Mexico went to Gore, but by less than 300 votes, in our local elections we had 3 races decided by one vote! She really saw the value of exercising her vote.

Good luck mate! I know things seem really screwed up, but just think how you'll feel when you can finally get around to trying to kick some Japanese butt all over the bleeding Pacific!
