Japanese, Homeplate

Post by kaleun »

I am intrigued by the Homeplate option on the full campaign game. I am playing it against the AI.
I 'd like to play allies, in the homeplate option. That is the one where the CVs are caught flatfooted at Pearl.
What would Japan do, if the Lex and the Big E are stuck at Pearl for an indefinite period of time. How would they use their overwhelming advantage?
If anyone wants to play Japan in a setting like this, let me know.
We would do the historic first turn with variable starting position, and simply restart until the homeplate option occurred. (Chances are 1:4)

Are you willing to do three-day turns? That's the only way I could see playing this monster with some chance of taking it to the end.

actually, i had homeplate on the historical turn once. The two carriers really get blasted. But, operation infield isn't bad too, it is even better. although your carriers risk taking some damage, i have seen this option taking place three times. carrier battle three times. Enterprise and Lexington both sunk three times.
I guess the best result you can hope for is operation outfield.

I would prefer 2 day turns. Until I kow how the AI works when handling your forces, during the 3 day turns, I would be afraid of it doing something really stupid.

I had homeplate on one of my AI games. That set me to thinking about this whole possibility, and remembering discussing with my Dad, what would have happened, had the CVs been at Pearl. That is why I want to try it.

OK, I will continue to look for 3-day turn players.
