Major Bug: Wrong Army Loss calculation

Post by Prinz Eugen »

Japanese LCU losses are counting towards Allied Army loss points.
The Japanese receive the victory points for loosing japanese army points.

I tested this in Scen. 15. The Tutorial scen. calculates the army loss points correctly.

Hope to see this fixed in the upcoming patch.

are you sure ?
I counted score on all (two) my current games and it is correct
Jap Score = Japs Base Points + Allied AC/Points lost + Allied Army Loss Points + Points for Sunk Allied Ships + Allied Strategic Losses + Points for Damaged Allied Ships

for Allies it's similar

the counting of all the victory points is correct, BUT the Japenese are getting the victory points for loosing their own troops.

Set up a test : start new scen 15. Head to head. All planes stand down on both sides.
Then transport an japanese LCU with no assault value on AP´s to an allied base and unload them. The japanese LCU will receive losses from landing.
After that turn you will see that the losses counted towards the allied army loss points.
So if you want to win the war for the japanese side, grab all your lcu`s, load them on transports and move them straight into San Francisco harbor. After loosing all your troops you will get lots of victory points for this ;)

i run this test
for both sides all aircrafts grounded, all ships returned to home, no replacements for ground units
no combat except one japanese landing at Taytay
224 casualties reported

allied army loss points : 4
japanese army loss pints: 0

and on taytay I found as allied player in base info screen Artillery : 39 (was 0 on turn 1)
no allied units presented though

second day japanese casualties during unloading was 179 and 151

score 9 :0 on army loss points, Taytay have now 137 Artillery
ordered japanese shock attack

third turn
another losses 132 and 120 during unloading and base captured
score
allied army loss points: 15
japanese army loss points: 0

VERY strange and you are right !

indeed in my battles is allied army loss very high (all those PA, US, British and Indians units destroyed) and seems correct

In UV i add the same problem once with ships but it was due to FOG, i had to wait a few days for all the sink report to come and all was good.

example (from memory):

after a battle US has one ship damaged, and Japanese have two ship sink
but i was seeing this:

Points for US: 0
Points for Japanese : 1

and i felt cheated

but after a few days the numbers changed to
Points to US: 4 (2 sink Japanese)
Points to Japanese: 1 (1 damagedUS)

I wonder if it is the same for ground troops, just run the game a few turn without action and see the result!

You see your loose right away in general, but you are aware of your opponent loose only a few days after most of the time (doesn't work like that for planes unfortunately...)

The total victory number is always the same for both opponent, but NOT the inbetween numbers, so by adding numbers, you can sometimes deduced if you have really sunk a carrier.

In your example, i just think that, for an unknown reason, it just take a few days for the Japanese player to be aware of his own loose (and it seems logical the US don't know them too).

no, in case when damaged or sunk ships (and only for enemy, own losses are always correct) are not shown on score list then you can 'guess' those by simply counting partial score from each line and compare it with total score, missing points are for actually damaged/sunk ships

in this case we are talking about army loss points in absolutely wrong line, only losses are on japanese side but they are counted as allies.

i've checked partial score for first turns

start:
japanese: 1065 (1065 - base points)
allies: 8259 (8259 - base points)

after turn 1 (224 japanese casualties)
japanese: 1059 (1055 - base points, 4 - allies army loss)
allies: 8263 (8263 - base points)

after turn 2 (179 and 151 japanese casualties)
japanese: 1077 (1068 - base points, 9 - allies army loss)
allies: 8269 (8269 - base points)

...

i run the test for other days, no casualties reported but allied army loss increase by 3-6 points per day

my conclusion:
scoring is probably ok
army loss points are calculated correctly, those small casualties reported are mostly only disabled not destroyed (no points for allies player) and for allies this is a attrition (malaria, out of supply etc.)

Thanks, got it ... looks like they got switch recently. Allied = Japanese, Japanese = Allied.
