Loading screen displaying bug

Post by Akos Gergely »

I just upgraded to version 1.2 and I have a serious problem. When loading the Coral Sea or Guadalcanal scenarios (maybe others as well, but I didn't try it yet) the game loads up, but when it starts the background image of the loading screen remains instead of the map!!! So all the icons of the map appear on this backround screen. And if I open any other window and exit it then the opened window's background will be displayed in the same place as the loading screen's background. So this way at least these two scenarios are unplayable.
I tried scen 15 and it does work in order , also the tutorial and the marianas scenario are OK. I haven't tried others but I'll.
I suppose it's because of the 1.20 patch.

I have an AMD XP 2000+ with 256 MB DDR memory and a 64 MB DDR GeForce 4 working under XP Pro.

It seems now that the southern part of the map doesn't working in any scenarios (I'm talking about the full sized map). This screenshot is from the First Year of the War scen:

Is this a lack of memory problem? If so, why does the upper part of the map work absolutely correctly ?

You might want to try a fresh install, which means reinstalling the game and then the 1.20 patch. Also the 1.21 patch is out. IF you want to try that, let me know what are the results. I am sure there is someone here who can help you. Good luck.

Hello, perhaps i have a answer for you.

i did all my upgrade like that:

1.0 -> 1.10c -> Registration Patch-> 1.20 -> 1.21

and i had 6810 files in the ART folder

i wanted to test something, and i reinstalled on the same computer in a other directory with

1.0 -> 1.20 -> 1.21

and i had the same problem than you... but there was only 6752 files in the ART folder!
the file slider.bmp was missing for example. So i copied the first ART folder to the second and all was perfect again.

>>>> I fear that the installer in certain case, doesn't install all the file that it should!

try the install with 1.10c (or 1.10d ?) in between and see what happens. How many files do you have in your ART folder?

Hi,

thanks for the idea. I have 6925 files, though I applied the new Allied OOB upgrade which might add further files.
I just recently bought the game so I have no expereince with 1.xx patches, but I'll try to reinstall everything.

Normally you need 6809 files (i add one more from Spooky Website).
I did a second reinstall 1.0 -> 1.20 -> 1.21 with the install .exe directly from the hard drive and not from a CD and this time it works, so the installer seems to be very upset with delays, or don't wait for the CD to reread if there was a reading error the first time?
