Don't let the BiN/KP graphics people ANYWHERE near this series. The more I try that game, the more I love the HTTR interface.

I never bought KP or BIN but, from the screenshots, the graphics look appealing enough to me.

The maps in HttR though, they look great. They have so much detail when you zoom in and seem reminiscent of what a field officers map might look like.

What is it about KP/BIN you don't like?

No unit IDs on the counters - I like to think I'm commanding 2 Para, not "a parachute battalion".

And HTTR and COTA have (or will have) nice subtler maps, with what seem to be earth tone type colours. The maps in KP/BiN are far more "computery", and just seem busier overall - "garish" is the word I'd use.

Also, I can see I'm going to have to slog my way through the whole BiN tutorial to have any chance of playing the game - it certainly doesn't sem intuitive. HTTR, once you know what the orders symbols are (and they roll-overs, do they not, anyway?) can be played more or less tutorial free. hell, you can just give an order to a brigade and watch the AI do it's thing, it's as good a way to jump into the game as any.

The AA series has by far the most user friendly and polished interface I've ever seen in a computer game; I'd hate anyone to look at all the "gee wow" reviews BiN has got and think "maybe we should add some bright colours to our pallette too"

You sure have a problem with BiN graphics. Youve already posted there about it and now here. I really like the BiN and KP counters, the map doesnt bothe rme either. HOWEVER this is COTA forum and they have never stated the graphics will change.

Good.

Think of it as a "I really like the AA interface" comment if you'd prefer it to be less whiney ;)

COTA graphics share a common basis with HTTR graphics. Unit icons are identical except for colours and some additional unit type symbols. The info box display system is being retained (I believe with the addition of some further display choices to show additional detail about supply situations). The map graphics are based on the same system although the overall colour scheme and some of the individual textures have been adjusted to the different theatre of operations. The sidebar UI is essentially similar although some parts have been streamlined and others have been extended.
