Changing Player Nations

Post by kommando »

First I want to say that this is a great game, and very easy to mod.

I have created a mod where the UK is a separate player. What I did was, using photoshop, replace Chinese artwork with UK artwork. (BTW China is now controlled by the US).
I then changed the units & regions etc. to reflect who was in control (Lucky for me there is a UK set available). I have looked through all the other files for accuracy.

Everything seems to be working great with two exceptions:
#1- In the opening screen where lists the players names (Germany, Japan, Soviet Union, Western Allies, China) How do you change the text to read (Germany, Japan, Soviet Union, United States, United Kingdom) ?
#2 - In the player turn identifyer (upper left hand corner) I have the same error. Is this data just hard-coded? or am I overlooking a file somewhere?

If this is possible I would like to realease this mod to the public.

Did you update gamedata.txt, which holds the "global" game data ?

I'm assuming you made all the French and Dutch possessions part of the UK. Is that correct?

Even if you can't change those last 2 things, you should post this, sounds pretty cool.

Thankx

I pretty sure that these items cannot be changed. Your mod does look cool though.[8D]

If it´s only 4mb then I would suggest you look for some "free webspace", for example classicgaming.com (read the rules: http://www.classicgaming.com/hosting/ ) or at Tripod to name a mainstream one ( http://www.tripod.lycos.com/ )

Also here´s a database of "free" webhosts:
