MCNA owners, need opinion please....

Post by Reiryc »

I am considering buying the MC, however with some of the bug reports I am hesitant.

I would like to know, with your honest opinion, is the purchase worth it? Now Im not looking for the be nice to matrix type answers(nothing personal guys), Im looking for honest answers to whether the game is fun, installs fine, has few bugs that limit gameplay, etc.

Anything that presents your view on the worth of the game would be appreciated.

It's worth the money. Be sure to go online and get the 6.0 upgrades-they help.
Frankly, some of the "bugs" reported here on MCNA are whining IMHO.

Buy it, you'll like it! I really love the MC format. I really have not experienced any bugs & I seem to cocur with the campaign whether I have done well in a particular battle. You might take all your objectives in a reasonable amount of time but if you give up too much armor (especially in an unwise fashion), your victory is reduced or even a draw. I agree with Grumble, definitely get all the downloads to the latest version. I'm truly enjoying MCNA immensely & playing other scenarios as a campaign break. That is my honest opinion. Good Luck!!

I like the Mega Campaign, I only play solo so the mega campaign is just great for me.

I had no problems installing and upgrading to 6.1.

There were "Phantom unit" bugs in the first two scenarios (WBW has a patch for the second one and the first one does one not really affect the game).

The only problems I've seen in game play were:

1. Regaining movement points if the game is saved before the AI half of the turn. (Just save the game after the AI moves)
2. Some where along the campaign, the score for one of my decisive victories wasn't included in the total. (I KNOW the real score)
3.The Campaign map doesn't always show the results of an older battle. (One of the draw results has been dropped from the map).

All in all, I am very satisfied with the game and it's support. I will definatly be ordering MCLV.

The MC is definitely worth it if you want an experience that’s **WAAY** beyond the regular scenario play, or even the 'campaign' style of play. The additional depth in the MC gives you a much greater "you are there feeling" and the aspect of consequence for one's actions is certainly heightened!

The MC we received installed without a hitch and was up and running right off the bat.

All in all it's a great package and well worth it!

I enjoy the game immensely. Buy it, you won't be sorry.
Grumble says 'we' are whining but in reality 'we' are trying to make the game better. Sometimes bugs pop up in different scenarios or in the game and the forum points them out. Most are minor fixes and Matrix fixes them. THAT is perhaps THE BEST REASON to buy their games next to playing them. They listen and help.
All the really 'game crashing' bugs I've seen posted are due to incompatibility with the PC equipment or a fault when the game is loaded/patched. These are not gameplay or Matrix issues as much as our own failure to follow directions or because our hardware/software is not interoperable. Note that many of the issues are reported by persons still using earlier versions of the game.
The game gets so much visibility on the forum BECAUSE people are playing it! It's not collecting dust like some other games. What does that tell you about it?
So, my advice would be to buy and play. And if you find something, then tell Matrix. They listen and support their products.
Can't wait for more......So long a wait for more...

Oh, absolutely buy it!! If you don't get it you will regret it when it's not available.

It's not like a normal campaign, more like a lot of scenarios strung together; but the scenarios all range from good to great (I don't know if anyone has played the Halfaya Pass scenario, but I am in the middle of it at the moment...) and the whole campaign has a nice atmosphere.

If you are a fan of the N. African theater, like me, then you will love it even more...

The major bug to deal with is making sure you always end and autosave the game at the end of you or the AIs turn, so you don't have to remember which of your units have moved.

The movement bug is bug is fixedin v7 and we have tried to make it less prone to crash in some situations, but its difficult to tell, becasue for the staff and playtesters we rarely see crash bugs, becasue we fix the ones that affect our systems...but can't knwo what we don;t know - whether it will on rare occasioans crash in harware combinations we have not tested it on!

I had some problems getting mine up and running at first, but thanks to some savvy posters in the tech section, I resolved any issues. But it was worth the wait. I'm only into my 5th battle of the campaign, and it's been a slugfest! I have enjoyed every minute of it. Not to mention some of the suprises thrown in for good measure...
I ain't no golden boy,
ain't no Grecian dancer,
and I ain't no loud mouth cowboy from the West...
I'm not the kind of man with all the answers, but I surely know the songs that suit me best.... LL

My experience has been wholly without problems (except for the "unlimited movement" bug). Installed perfectly, runs perfectly (never had a crash or lockup).

I did delete all evidence of prior versions before installing MCNA and upgrading to v6.1; don't know if that had a positive affect or not.

Buy it! It's great. But to whine a little, sometimes its just too damn hard, like when you have finally beaten the enemy, have just a few tanks left, and 6 Matilda's show up as reinforcements!

ARRRRGH Matilda's!!!

I also hate 2 Lbrs that take out 2 or 3 vehicles before you can even spot them.
