New Unit Icons ????

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

New Unit Icons ????

Post by rdcotton »

Are there any mods out there that change the unit icons to something along the standard military symbols? i.e. the X in a box for infantry ... the ellipse in a box for armor etc, etc.

If not ... has anyone made a list of which SHP files belong to which units.

Thanks,

Ray

Are you nuts?

You would rather see an ellipse than a Firefly or a T-34?
They struggled with a ferocity that was to be expected of brave men fighting with forlorn hope against an enemy who had the advantage of position......knowing that courage was the one thing that would save them.

RD,you cannot be serious ?..SPWAW is basically a video version of "miniatures" played on real roads and real forests,etc...
Would you be content to push cardboard counters around a sand table with metal miniatures on the shelf right behind you??[&:]

Ray besides all the shock horror etc from others what you mention is possible.
There though is a problem with the idea, namely the way the unit icons are structured and stored.
As an example a tank is actually 2 seperate graphics, the hull is one graphic and the turret is another. Also there are a few more complex issues just with troops.

The other problem would be making sure which side was red and which was blue. Could cause an argument.

As its not a straight forward simple process I doubt anyone would dash off and start doing it.

Yes, these are the problems, although I find the idea not that bad actually. ...just does not work.

ray if you really need to use NATO symbols then the best game is "BCT Commander" at http://www.shrapnelgames.com/prosim/bct_commander/1.htm

The games are different in style and approach.
