Retreating from Battles At 80% Chance of Winning...

Post by JiggyMcFly »

I understand that we are forced to retreat if defenders outnumber us 2:1. However, why does the calculator still indicate that we have an 80% chance of winning the battle?

Also, *(offtopic)* if ground units have the ability to hit air units, why are my air units rarely hit when I bomb the bejesus out of China?

Cant answer your first question (should be in the manual though).

China & air: infantry have pretty poor AA stats. From the top of my head I can't say if Chinese inf are even worse than others, but all ground units bar AA can safely be attacked without fear for a hit on your planes.

The battle calculator often gives "funny" results. Still it's a good thing to have!

This is done without regard for actual casualties. So you may have taken more casualties then expected which lowered your odds to below that required to take the location.

Remember 2:1 is needed in clear, but rough and fortress is 3:1 and Fortress + Rough is 4:1

I have had high probability only to see really bad die rolls and miss hitting enough units to get the required odds and then back you go.[:@]
