AI-selected forces

Downloaded 6.1 and installed the update no problem; 7.0 seems to run fine, and I was up until 3:30 last night defending Poland against the Wehrmacht. Happily, I am having more luck knocking out Pz Is and IIs with my anti-tank rifles and grenade launchers than I would have expected! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">

Rather than tailor my own forces, I sometimes like to have the AI choose my troops, so I can have that "make do with whatever you have got" experience. Last night I set up a German assault against Poland, Poland being me, I think 4800 German vs 2400 Poles, and had the AI select the forces. The first time I did this the computer only gave me a piddling amount of forces, like 5 or 6 squads! I restarted from the battle generator, and it happened again. On my third try, though, I got a good force, many rifle platoons and HMG platoons, like a dozen bunkers, 10 or so AT guns, some off-board arty, etc. This is what I had expected, and after this the game went on without a hitch.

Any idea why this might have happened? A statistical glitch with the rarity factor? Something to do with the fact that I used a custom map? I should note that I haven't played SPWAW since version 3 or 4, so this phenomena may have nothing to do with the version 7 code.

Otherwise, stellar game. I'm looking forward to giving all the Allied armies a workout, and can't wait for "Lost Victories" to arrive. And I think I am even more excited about "Comabt Leader" and "Close Assault"; I think the new initiative systems and misidentification of enemy units will really add to the game. Keep up the good work Matrix!
